CSS character icon help :(

okay, so i've seen on youtube and stuff of peoples modded brawl where you see when they "change" color of thier character, its all cool and doesn't freeze, but when i do it, it freezes when i press the brawl button, what is wrong?
and if its the pallate thing, please tell me, and just to show what i'm talking about,
also i want to know if its the type of compression...
here are the sonic ones i want to replace...

perhaps you went over the limit for your selcharacter pac or common5.
sc_selcharacter.pac's limit is 3.79 MB, and common5.pac's limit is 11.6. whichever one you use, is it perhaps over the limit?
