you really shouldn't be getting hit by those rests. you can seriously jump out of the uptilt at the percentages you were being hit at, especially since you did indeed DI them alright.
anyway, all i can say is watch this video that pretty much defines my vs. jiggly play:

how exactly do you DI those uptilts? up and away?

yep. i believe just away is better at low %s.
also, if you CC it, you just get knocked down. so that's not a bad choice, sometimes, to DI down if you can get it in before the hit is over.
