For quite some time, I have been using Marth as my main. I am really focusing on improving and I figured a way to do that would be to play against my brother, his friends, and record some matches for critique.

The following matches in this on this playlist are me versus my brother. New videos may be added later. Thanks for your critique!

First work on your movement. As a Marth movement is key wave dashing, wave landing and dash dancing are super good with Marth. Don't Up smash with Marth really unless they are on a platform but the move is not very good. Up tilt gets the job done though. You countered when getting edge guarded by the Peach. Counter can be seen coming if you're being edge guarded so don't do it very much. When recovering don't jump then side b. Side b for a bit then use your jump it will help you get back to stage a lot better. I'll edit this post or post more later on.

Movement = Key

Don't ever upsmash unless they're on the platform right above you and you can hit them with the tipper. Only use counter as a mixup when recovering, mostly just get low then up-b snap onto ledge. Also, side-b then jump. not jump they side b.

Keep an eye on percents, you upthrew a lot against fox and didnt get any followups try to mixup your throws. Also if you get a grab on spacies near ledge usually you should throw them off for an edge guard situation. likd the other folks said movement is important but also work on your combo game, werent any real strings just stray hits.

I'm gonna echo what's been said already, and say that movement is critical to being a successful Marth player. You wanna be utilizing Marth's excellent dash-dance in order bait out moves from you opponent. By baiting out a move it enables you to grab the opponent and get a punish off. In the Fox game you weren't dash-dancing a lot so the Fox would just throw out attacks and they'd hit you.
Also vs the Peach matchup, when you grab Peach it's usually best to throw her up because she struggles coming back down. So by throwing her up you'll get a off a decent juggle and rack up damage fairly easily as long as you space you Up-Airs correctly.

If anyone notices anything I'm doing wrong (I'm the default-colored characters), let me know too (particularly in the Marth ditto since this is a Marth sub-forum).

Thanks for critique. I will be sure to utilize movement and do my best to stop up-smashing. How should I act differently depending on my enemy's percent? Should other moves be used more or less?
