Hello =]
My brother, a friend and I got some smash videos recorded a few days ago.
I've been playing Luigi for a while and I'm feeling that my progress has been stalling over the past months, so I thought that I might get some pointers here on what I could work on and improve.

I could tell that you CAN wavedash but i couldnt tell to what extent because you never really did... If you watch pros they will almost never run across stage or do an aerial without wavelanding it. I guess really just wavedash more. lol Ill leave anything specific to the pros.

Ok, your mind games were too predictable. Try mixing up how you approach your opponent.

You also missed too many techs. Just work more on teching. And instead of wding ftilts, wd dsmashes more. Those are easier to combo with.

Short hop more. I saw a few times where you jumped normally and used an arial on someone when it would have been faster to just short hop.

And for your recovery, learn to use luigi's tornado spin (bdown) to recover. You have to use it on the ground once, and then you can use it in the air if you press b really fast to jump higher. I saw a few parts of the video where you could've recovered if you had done that.

On the good side, you wd well, you have most of aspects of technical play down, and you combo well. Just keep practicing :chuckle:

Thank you for the feedback!
I'm definitely going to try and mix up f-tilt approach with downsmash.
I wanna be good at teching, it's so frustrating when you bounce of the ground and get kneed to death at 80% by Captain Falcon. I'll put some more focus on that aswell as the bad habit to fulljump.
I know about luigi's tornado, but I don't feel confident enough with it to utilize it in matches, I hardly gain any height and I have to change my grip on the controller to even be able to stall. (Nope I wasn't very good at track and field when I was a kid )=

If you want to get better at luigi's tornado recovery, go into training and set the speed at 1/4. Then hop on a ledge and drop. Let yourself drop a little, then press bdown and mash the b button as fast as you can. Then jump once more and if thats not enough b-up the rest. It should be easier at 1/4 speed. When you have it down at 1/4 speed, do it at 1/2, then 2/3, and finally try it at normal speed. It worked for me.

Using this technique: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppDO4ZBiXuo
I'm now able to get it to 1/2 of the maximum height.

If you press B (#)....Height gained
14+ times per second...Highest amount of height will be gained
12-13 times per second...2/3 the maximum height
8-10 times per second...1/2 the maximum height
5-7 times per second...0 height gained (maintains height; stalls)
Less than 5... Loss
What different techniques are Luigi players using and how many mashes/second can you maintain in regular matches?

@ X wanted X: hmm I watched the c falcon matches, upon watching the rest your right he did wd quite a bit. I would mainly put it in the category of more mindgames, which you touched on. More tricky wavedashes (turn around, etc...) rather than the ones he uses for follow ups and combo continuers. anyways yeah... lol

Lol I used to do it that way. But the issue is that once you do it while recovering, you have to switch your hand around so your thumb is on the b button again, or you'll be playing awkwardly. That way is faster, but in the long run if you can button mash with your thumb it will be more beneficial in the long run.

I rewatched that FoD match and you're right, I hardly wavedashed anything. It was the last match recorded so 5 am johns :>.
I'll try to add some pulsewalking and turnarounds. I'm not too good at mindgames, but I'm gonna try to play more varied next time.

I feel the same thing, but on the other hand a rising tornado is always(?) followed by either:
1. Vertical-B
2. Up-B
3. Hogging the edge
4. Jump

And I guess I should be able to switch back to my regular controller grip while doing all of them.
