Hello, I play Fox in both Melee and PM. I have some footage I would like you guys to look over, and offer advice. However I only have PM games recorded, and the Fox PM boards are dead. I hope you guys can offer some general advice on my gameplay anwyay, especially considering one of the sets is vs a Marth who is largely unchanged.

One problem I noticed during my sets is that I was going for too many upsmashes from dash and was getting punished for it, but I think I managed to tone that down by the end of the tournament. I also went for too many silly shine spikes (especially vs a marth...), but I'm working on that and edgeguarding with bair a lot more.

Here's a set vs a Lucas. I'm not warmed up here so there's some technical errors to begin with like missed L cancels, but that doesn't happen now. I would love some tips on what I can do following a shine on lucas, other than attempting a thunder combo which I need to practice.

And here is the grand finals vs a Marth. I went very grab heavy during this set which seemed to pay off. This may not showcase my general play very well as I'm normally a more aggressive player, however I was pretty inexperienced with the matchup so played it safe.

Thanks for reading, and sorry if this isn't allowed!

Lol @ the commentary.

Your movement isn't very smooth... but that will come with more practice. Keep working on it. Also, be careful of those double jumps that you seem to do randomly on stage. Maybe you were trying to do something and jumped by accident, so you went ahead and tapped the jump a few more times out of frustration. If you play against an opponent that is quick enough to knock you off stage out of your second jump, that's going to put you in a really bad spot. This, however, got better as the matches went on. You seemed to had trouble shorthopping a bit though.

As you said, you went for too many DACUSs (Dash Attack Cancel UpSmash) and you weren't punished enough for them, imo. However, you conditioned your opponent to shielding whenever you dash approached. You could have used that to your advantage with some basic mixups, by either grabbing instead or running behind him -> pivot grab, or even doing some shield pressure (Drillshine -> Grab out of shine preferably). Your opponent was playing very passive in the earlier matches. He somehow gained confidence as the matches went on, maybe you were giving him too much room.
