If you are new to the melee scene it's not bad.I would try to get the drill shine to wavedash out a little bit more fluid.

Also when you up throw to up air to get there quicker use the jump button(x or y) then the almost immediatly up on the control stick then up on c stick. It also wouldn't hurt to practice some pivot jump cancelled grabs.

I'm not really new to melee. I've been playing it since it came out. I've been to 2 tournaments, and really have only been trying to play competitively since last year. I don't really have any experience pivoting, but I will try it. Any more advice?

You don't have the basics down yet. But anyways:

Uthrow to uair doesn't work on Samus, so grabs are useless in this match-up. Nair gets CCed, but I doubt your brother even knows what that is, so I think you can nair safely for now.

The only thing that ***** Samus, I didn't see you do. I saw you shine, I saw you wavedash and I saw you usmash.

But where was the drill->shine->WD->usmash? No waveshines?

You need try to be more fluid, instead of so erratic and random. You tend to lose control of your Fox and do random things like ground laser and full-hop fair. Practice waveshining and stringing nairs together or something.

Honestly, yea.

If she blocks your aerials and upbs out of shield, she'll beat out your shine too. Her upb has invincibility frames during the start-up, shine doesn't. When I faced Hugs in the U.S., I learned all this the hard way.

Samus CCs everything you have except drill and uair, she can't be uthrow-uaired...

All you can do is laser, weave around her hitboxes and get drills to usmashes. You can also fthrow to get her off and go for edge-guards. In this match-up, getting her off the edge is a good way to rack up damage. Even if it doesn't kill her, the bairs and shines are worth it.

I'd say so. Its good on smaller levels because usmash will kill at lower percents. You can also uthrow, wait for the double-jump, then react accordingly. If you fight her on a big level, she will never freaking die.

I'd say to just take her to Yoshis or something neutral like Poke. Its one of Fox's hardest if the Samus is really good.
