my problems: cant combo mario, cant edgegaurd mario, cant kill mario without F-smash or D-smash

also, i know i can tech his UpB (did it like once or something) can someone tell me how? do i just CC and smash DI down?

sweet spot dem side-b's bro
if you're not tricky with falco's recovery, you're not taking advantage of what's good about it

also, i saw a shine-turnaround wavedash to grab the ledge
but i see approximately two laser heights, high and semi-high
wtf
instead of working on super technical stuff, i think you need to work more on basics
be able to laser consistently at any height and be able to mix up laser height on command

work on speeding yourself up, and being faster at moving around and throwing out hitboxes in general...i did see a lot of followups that you could've gotten but didn't because you didn't go for it for some reason (good example you daired him from the side platform to the floor, why not just run off the plaftorm and fall on him with dair again?)

in general, you needa work more on your basic tech skills and making yourself more fluid/fast in your movement. also, after watching on, OMFG STOP SIDE-BING TO THE STAGE X{

yeh those side Bs are bad XDDD, as for the movement, what specifically do i need to do? like, what was I not fluid on, it'd help a lot if you can point out some instances ( i know in a general way that i need to move more, have smoother wavelands etc)

thanks a lot for the feeds backs :D

the link i put in my comment is a pretty good example

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9uO8wBITHQ&feature=youtu.be#t=9m06s

you awkwardly shine -> dair him...then there's this pause, then you jump and do another kinda awkward dair...and there's another random pause. what's up with those random hiccups? you could've immediately done a falling dair from the platform after either dair and started up what could've been a good string and gain really good positioning.

I feel like you're at the stage where it is sort of hard to critique someone. It's almost like saying improve slightly everywhere, which is useless advice and the same reason why I don't go out of my way to get anything recorded. I know the things I do wrong and what things I can optimize for the most part. For all intents and purposes your tech skill and movement both seemed solid but could definitely be improved on. Your dash dance game seemed a little shallow as well, I don't think I saw it ever be that effective. I would familiarize myself with platform play and movement more. You didn't really seem comfortable leaving center stage (or in the corner). Going to center stage then running away to wait out the invincibility isn't a bad idea but you would just kind of move around the center a bit and not avoid anything lol. Oh yeah and uptilting mario instead of shining when you have the opportunity is a good idea

Some things I noticed specifiaclly are:
  • You got punished way too often for being on his shield, that is an advantageous position for you
  • I don't think you got a meaningful conversion while on his shield
  • You're going to need to sophisticate your pressure strings or space better on shield
  • I am not sure but I don't think you fastfall'd all the times you should have
  • When you approached with dair or nair it was always at the same (high) height/timing. (go pick up a controller right now and approach something with dair, that timing you just used? you used that every single time lol) Try to do them low the the ground or lower in general because between you dair'ing and reaching the ground, it is extremely hard or impossible to punish you before your shine can come out.
  • You can mix up that situation with a low aerial->shinegrab because there are extremely small windows for them to escape that and I don't think (assuming frame perfection on both parts) it can be punished by anything slower than Fox's shine OOS. Yeah we aren't frame perfect but know that a lot of the times you got punished OOS it was by something you shouldn't have allowed.
  • You could have laser'd more, you also need to shoot more low lasers
  • I don't know anything about the Mario MU but I imagine that refreshing your invincibility via ledge hop or a fire bird is a good idea when edge guarding him. You didn't really do that all I think. Edge guarding Mario is kind of hard actually.
  • You got your side B's to center stage from the ledge called way too many times. You need to be able to ledge dash proficiently, or jump/waveland onto the side platform on battlefield/yoshi's, or double laser.
  • I only watched the first few games, you seem to have decent DI and picked for the most part decent recovery options but make sure you thrown in shorten illusion because it can be very hard to cover and gives you some good options

good stuff

and how do i record ****
i legit dont even know how people record matches like this
so anyone give me the list of stuff i need wud be cool thanks
I recorded the match so I could tell you(thats right I'm the crappy mario = P)

Capture card: These range in price and I would personally do some research for finding out which one you think is worth your money, capture cards are the programs that record your footage, they can be as cheap as a 10$ easy cap to as expensive as a hauppange HD PVR 150$. I personally have a diamond VC500 which is about 30$ and I know a lot of friends who have Dazzle which is about 50$. I will mention that my capture card often causes game sound to desync which I must fix in editing.

Splitters: These are pretty cheap I use RCA video audio splitter adapter. My splitters are cheap and make the game darker but not the video, also when using the splitters they throw almost all of the audio into one ear where I have to level that out in post as well.

RCA video/audio cable: For the record a lot of capture cards give this to you automatically but in case it does not you will need this.

Anyways that's basically it, you'll run into a few hiccups along the way but thats it for recording equipment. Hope that helped.

EDIT: Just thought I'd mention that I do not know if most of my problems with recording that have to be fixed in editing are simply the programs problem or my crappy computers problem

A capture card is pretty tiny, if you find a tutorial on youtube of a capture card you see how tiny they are. And the cube is hooked up to the TV and so is the capture card as well. They both have yellow white red cables and you use splitters to plug them both in on the TV. Its pretty weird to explain I recommend some youtube tutorial to see the exact process. And depending for how cheap you want the capture card, you could easily spend under 50$. Splitters aren't that expensive, your main expense is the capture card(also a running computer).

I hope you get a capture card because recording matches of you versus other people is a great way of seeing your own mistakes.
