A weakass crew means nothing

all the crews you mentioned were [generally] the best players in a single area. they played and trained together and thats how they got good.

the melee community now seems to be more unified [probably because it's smaller] and people from different sub-regions play each other more than just at tournaments or bigger smashfests. this diminishes the value of having a crew to train with.

The only reason I mentioned 909 was because not that many people play out here compared to players in the Irvine, LA, SD, and Santa Barbara areas. Surely these regions play together and also have good players.

What you said about the unity of the smash community I can definitely agree with. Still they were fun times. I just hope they come back and become as hype as they were before.

socal doesn't do this anymore. it's a bunch of kids that don't really care, they're just playing to kill time, not to push themselves to get better. in the past you had to push yourself and those around you to get better because the skill pool of the scene demanded it
