Hello everyone, I am currently working on making a professional Project M build, it uses cBliss (But not the SEP, I find it to be a bit too buggy.) This question isn't related to cBliss, but I have a question regarding CSPs and BPs.

I am currently working on making a CSP and BP for a certain Bowser texture that is to replace the Brown Bowser (Because I loathe it so.). However, using a color replacement tool in Photoshop just isn't doing the trick. I've been using the program for years, and yet here I am, completely stumped. How do the PMBR get their CSPs and BPs to be so well done? Is it done in a program that isn't photoshop? And by this, I mean the portraits that are in the original poses, like Purple Marth, Boxer DK, etc.

Basically, all I am attempting to do is recolor this

To accurately be shown on the original Bowser CSP and BP poses (which I really should not need to link, but I will anyways.)

Any and all tips / suggestions are very much appreciated, as I'd love to get my own custom build out that I'm sure everyone will enjoy.

I suppose you could select each area and recolor that area specifically. I use GIMP instead of Photoshop, but you should still have a custom select tool.

Yeah, apparently GIMP is good for something, I've never used it personally, so I'm afraid of tinkering with some form of unknown alien technology if I were to download it XD

1) Separate the CSP and BP into layers based on colour
2) Create a new layer for each layer you created and fill it with your desired colour. Mask it, too

I can't remember what you have to set the layer type to as it's been a long time since I've created a recolour, but it's simple trial and error to find the correct choice. You may have to mess around with other stuff like saturation and brightness as well. If you don't understand any of my terminology, go Google it. There are a bunch of PS/Gimp tutorials out there.

Thanks for the replies, I've got it down now, and have made a TON of new CSPs, BPs, and Stock icons for my custom build, it's turning out beautifully so far!
