I'm trying to make a team focusing around my Yanmega, but also trying to counter the majority of OU threats. Here's what I got.

Yanmega@ Focus Sash
Modest / Speed Boost
4 def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Protect
Bug Buzz
Air Slash
Hypnosis

Yanmega is the main focus of the team and the starter. It's job is to use Protect to safely get a speed boost and hit hard. Hypnosis is to prevent set ups from slower pokemon, mainly pokemon with stealth rock. It also makes a good revenge killer, because it can outrun most fragile sweepers and kill them,, mainly Pokemon like Infernape and Azelf.

Blissey, Snorlax, Regice, and most steel types are a problem for Yanmega. My Machamp can counter most of those with the exception of Skarmory. My Starmie can take care of that with Thunderbolt.

Machamp @ Leftovers
Adamant / No Guard
252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Spe
Dynamic Punch
Stone Edge
Rest
Sleep Talk

My bulky sweeper and Status Absorber. He's good at taking out Rock Types that bother Yanmega. Stone Edge can kill Gyarados. He can also force switches with Dynamic Punch's confusion effect, which helps with the Stealth Rocks set up by my Gliscor.

Gliscor can take down Machamp, especially if they have Aerial Ace. Celebi and Cresselia can both take hard hits from Machamo and kill it with Psychic, but Yanmega can counter them Bug Buzz.

Gliscor @ Leftovers
Impish / Sand Veil
252 Hp / 252 Def / 6 Spe
EQ
Ice Fang
Stealth Rock
Roost

He fuctions as a physical wall and Stealth Rock support. He can counter most fighting types Ice Fang is for covering dragons like Garchomp, Dragonite, and Salamence. This is assuming they have physical movesets.

Machamp and Starmie support Gliscor pretty well. Both of them can get rid of Gyarados with Stone Edge and Thunderbolt, respectively. Starmie can handle most water types with Thunderbolt. Skarmory is another problem for Gliscor that can be handled by Starmie.

Blissey @ Leftovers
Bold / Natural Cure
4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA
Calm Mind
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Softboiled

This set helps Blissey cover a wide variety of Pokemon while still being able to counter Special Attackers. The idea is to make a Blissey both a threat and wall with Calm Mind. It works great on those not expecting it. I'm not sure if I should change the nature to Modest in case of Raikou.

Nearly all of the physical fighting type Pokemon that counter Blissey can be countered by Gliscor.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Timid / Natural Cure
160 HP / 132 SpA / 216 Spe
Thunderbolt
Surf
Recover
Rapid Spin

Starmie is my rapid spinner/ Infernape and Gyarados counter. Rapid Spin really helps with Yanmega's 4x weakness to Rock Type moves.

Blissey and Weavile are the biggest threats to Starmie. Starmie can't kill Blissey ever, and Weavile will always kill it with Pursuit if Starmie flees. Machamp can take care of both them, and if Weavile doesn't have Ice Shard, Yanmega can revenge kill by getting a safe speed boost and using Bug Buzz.

Metagross @ Choice Band
Adamant / Clear Body
252 HP / 244 Atk / 12 Def
Meteor Mash
Earthquake
Explosion
Bullet Punch

I just noticed I have no sure fire way to counter Weavile and Aerodactyl. That's why I added Bullet Punch. I think Metagross makes a good choice bander for this team since it has a lot of resistances and few weaknesses. The only common weakness it has is fire along with Yanmega, and no one else has a ground weakness.

I'm a little rusty when it comes to competitive battling, so point out any major flaws that I might have missed.

I wouldn't go Focus Sash on Yanmega. Instead, I would put it in the back and let it sweep late-game thanks to the speed boosts. something like:

Yanmega @ Leftovers/ Life Orb/ Wise Glasses/ Wide Lens
Speed Boost: Modest/ Timid
252 Spd, 252 SpA, 4 Def
Bug Buzz
Air Slash
Hypnosis
Protect/ HP Ice

That way you can beat Blissey: just hypnosis and keep pounding it. It's actually better if you have your own SS and SR up, with possible Spikes support. SR Aerodactyl and Tyranitar can help with both of those, with a Light Screen Forretress laying down spikes and Gyro Balling stuff that's too fast for their own good(Garchomp, Deoxys-s).

As the team is, it would be Aero, T-Tar, Forry, and Yanmega. Vaporeon would help a lot with Wish support, which helps to keep everyone alive. your metagross can fill the last spot. this is what I would do with the team, but that's up to you really.

I once got swept by... ...it's up to you whether you want to use it or not.

Yanmega @ Liechi Berry
Speed Boost/Mild
252sp.atk/252spe/4atk (HP divisible by 4 from IVs)
-Reversal
-Substitute
-Air Slash
-Bug Buzz

Machamp wants Ice Punch over Stone Edge for opposing Gliscor.

...That's all I got.

I'd keep yanmega in the back and pack HP: Ground for Sleep Talk Heatran (I use this personally). Lava Plume has a 30% burn which is a big nono for Machamp. Granted, you use a sleeptalker yourself =]. It can also stall out Blissey if it lands a burn.

Actually you might want to scratch that and put HP: Ice instead. The Garchomp + Tyranitar combo can actually cause some trouble.

Pretty good team though.

Yanmega is kind of hard to center a team around. He works well as a lead not only because of his SR weakness but because he isn't he kind of pokemon that can come in and start sweeping. You basically have to wait for your opponent to KO one of your pokemon so that Yanmega can get in without taking damage. You can save him if you want, but I'd personally put him back up front.

PraLirJag, Machamp is a restalker so burn isn't a bid deal. I don't really like restalk machamp as it leaves him with only two attacks but again this isn't about what I like. I would go with ice punch over stone edge though for better coverage.

Your Blissey spread is no good. There are plenty of special attackers that can 2HKO a Bold blissey with 252 HP. What do you think the're going to do your Blissey with only 4 HP points. If you want her to be more balanced use the now standard spread or the 252 Defense 252 Special Defense spread that get's a bit of use.

I'd replace Starmie with Mesprit. If you switch into a Infernape expecting a Nasty plot only to see swords dance Starmie is going to be in trouble. There's also scarf'Napes you have to look out for. Mesprit can counter Infernape, Gyarados and Garchomp for you. You also gain a ground immunity. You won't have a rapid spinner but you won't need one as the only pokemon you have that needs a spinner is Yanmega (who should be supporting your team not the other way around).
