Smash Ace
I'm just wondering, because with the Gamepad and Wii controllers, could Sm4sh be a 5 player experience?

.. What's Smash Bros Crusade? There's always the possibility but I don't think Nintendo, and Sakurai would honestly be smart enough to do this for Smash. It can work, Smash Bros. Crusade has 6 players and it's fun as hell but I think it's too good to be true if they bumped it up to more than 4 players.

That one cutscene with Megaman using his Flame Blast had 4 people (Kirby, DK, Link, and Mario) + Megaman. I know that it was a cutscene but that's what got my gears turning. It can, but if it did i think it would have been shown on the trailer
I'd be surprised if we got 5-players at this point, if only because it seems like the kind of thing that would be revealed right off the bat. However, I suppose they could still be working out some kinks with it and it isn't ready to reveal, or it might just be a special mode or something in Versus, but seems like they would try to promote it quite fervently if it was a feature, so I'm inclined to think past multi-man modes, it won't be part of the game. Even though it'd work quite well with the gamepad and the "larger stages" on the Wii U version.

I'm just saying that it made me think.Cutscenes aren't the same as gameplay. Or else we'd speculate the same thing for 64, Melee, and Brawl. Which obviously never happened.

That's like saying Snake was just "another character" or the Final Smash was just an "extra attack". Having five slots, while perhaps not the most surprising addition, literally would be game-changing, there'd be no reason not for Nintendo to promote it. Especially since it would allow them to showcase the Gamepad even more, which they love to do. If it's going to be a part of this game, expect it to be known before release, Nintendo wouldn't hide something like this.Well, it's just an extra slot. Maybe something that's not important enough to be revealed until release.
5!? Hell, I want gigantic 16-player maps. Super Smash Bros. Clusterf**k.
It's a Smash Bros. fan game (the best one imo) that's still being developed, it's coming later this year though. Here's a link to their recent livestream they had at a tourney I've went to a while ago.I hope it is, so my siblings and I can all play at one time.

It does make more sense to have it as 6 players if they were to increase it, or in multiples of 2 generally for even teams. It's a Smash Bros. fan game (the best one imo) that's still being developed, it's coming later this year though. 6 player starts at 27:44. The stream gets laggy at times, and this is the recent build.
You've ruined all my dreams and hopes. It does make more sense to have it as 6 players if they were to increase it, or in multiples of 2 generally for even teams.
Too OP, imo. Boss too hard? Just take control of it and make it do nothing while you beat it up!It would be cool if you can control Boss characters with the gamepad, lol.
Not in the main story. During Vs. mode or something.Too OP, imo. Boss too hard? Just take control of it and make it do nothing while you beat it up!
Wait what? Bosses during Vs. mode? WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION?Not in the main story. During Vs. mode or something.
If it is, they haven't shown it yet.I'm just wondering, because with the Gamepad and Wii controllers, could Sm4sh be a 5 player experience?
I touched on this on my "Use the gamepad to draw things on Pictochat type stages" thread.I think that if a person is using a gamepad they can create items or stage hazards rather than use a fifth character.
Would make Melee elitists flock to 4. That would be a cool use though, and an explanation for the Megaman trailer. It would be cool if the GamePad could be used to summon fighters on-stage to spice up things, like Assist Trophies that have no alliance!
Wait a minute...
OH MY FREAKING GOD.
Maybe.5 players on a screen at once would be too confusing.
People would get used to it. I've played against people who said 4 was too confusing but eventually became perfectly proficient. Especially if the stages are larger.5 players on a screen at once would be too confusing.
Alright, that's your opinion...People would get used to it. I've played against people who said 4 was too confusing but eventually became perfectly proficient. Especially if the stages are larger.
Sorry for dismissing this right of the bat, Club. I was laying in bed last night and thinking it over, and I came to the realization that it actually would be pretty cool! A special mode where you can pick bosses from the last 3 games and fight against 4 people teamed up against you. Again, sorry for dismissing it so quickly. It would be cool if you can control Boss characters with the gamepad, lol.
Why not six players? 2 gamepad's + 4 pro controllers/ wii-motes.
(it was stated early this year that Wii U can have 2 gamepad's, they just don't have any software that uses it)
Mass havoc: 3v3, all items, special brawl with bunny ears and extra speed :D3v3 tourneys are gonna be hecticcccc.
Hopefully we can get a stage that has a lot of moving backgrounds and stage hazards :]Mass havoc: 3v3, all items, special brawl with bunny ears and extra speed :D
System smelter: 3 vs 3, all players olimar, special brawl with spicy curry. Think the Wii U could keep that looking good?
