Could I get some tips for Short Hopping and Up-Airing with Falcon?

Because I'm native to Brawl and Project M, Melee has been unusual for me. I can short hop and u-air well in the latter two, and have been getting much more consistent with my wavedashing and dash dancing. I can do pretty well with Doc in Melee, but have wanting to get into Falcon in Melee. I play him in Project M, but it doesnt feel the same when i bring the techniques to Melee. The two main troubles I'm having are short hopping and up-airing. It feels like the timing for Falcon's short hop is incredibly sensitive compared to Doc, and at times, when i tap the X or Y button, he'll jump instead. It feels 3/2 more sensitive than Project M? Is it supposed to be this sensitive? If so, is it just my controller, or is there a differemt method i have to use to short hop with Falcon than, say, Doc? I'm also having trouble Up-Airing because of the jump. Should I just use C-Stick for this instead? Thanks in advance, guys.

CapFalc and Doc both have the same Jump Speed, i'm pretty sure, so there shouldn't be any difference in your short hop execution. it might just be that since he's Falcon and you play Falcon in P:M, your hands automatically want to do the same input as they would in P:M, and if the timing in P:M is different, then.

True, I've probably gotten used to him too much in Project M. I'm sure Falcon has a faster jumping speed, but i definitely will take a look.

Falcon and Doc have the same jump speed. Most characters have the same speed as those two.

As for tips the only way to get good at shffling is to practice it ALOT.
Everyday bro.

With Falcon you need insanely good shffling. They are everything to him.
