I bought my Corrin/Bayo dlc today.
started downloading anndddd, not enough space on my wii u.
I have other USB's I could use, but I can't move any of the data to them, or at least I don't know how to.
I've already went and deleted everything I have on my wii u expect for smash, but still not enough.
Anyone know what to do?

Like what Mario & Sonic Guy Mario & Sonic Guy suggested, you would need a hard drive. You may use one UP TO 2TB. That is huge memory, but I would suggest between 250GB-1TB hard drive to use. Though, the usable drives I think are specific, I do not know on that. Nintendo's website shows this. http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1359/~/what-external-storage-devices-can-be-used-with-wii-u?
If you even want, you can change the internal wii u memory if you are willing to take it apart. (would not recommend. could break)

Thanks for everyone who replied, but before I move on to getting this stuff I have to ask one more thing.
I've already tried using USB's and the like to move some of the data over, the one problem is that I don't know if I can.
Becuase I already set the patch + the installation of the DLC in motion, whenever I try to open my copy of smash, it tries to install it and tells me I can't becuase there isn't enough room. I tried putting in a USB and moving stuff over, but it didn't work beucase it said I can't move stuff while an installation is in motion. I tried pausing the installation, but it said the same thing.

So I guess what I'm asking is, does an external hard drive strengthen my Wii u's hard drive(i.e. move it from 8G to 20G?) Or does it create another comparment next to the wii u's storage(i.e. 8G in the Wii u, 50G in the hard drive.) Beucase if it's the ladder, how do I move the my copy of smash to the external hard drive?

Thanks for everyone who replied, you've all been a big help.

It will be one of two things: Either the Hard Drive will be combined with the memory similar to the 3DS with SD cards, or Transferring data through settings. I do not know for sure, i'm not a Wii U owner. Also, no problem for help

That's why I don't by the whole thing only the characters/stages to practice for tournaments

It's the ladder, You should just be able to just go into data management and move it to the hard drive, if your Usb is not working you need to format it and stop the download and delete it first. After that done re-download the date, it will automatically download to the usb.

I'm pretty sure the stages and characters are automatically downloaded when you update to the version that included them. Buying them only unlocks them and makes it playable; it's why the download for a character is so small.

They have to be downloaded into the game even if you don't buy them just in case someone online uses a character that you don't buy, otherwise the game would freak out and most likely crash.
