A while back I was posting here 24/7 trying to find out which HDTV to get for games with the answer pretty much ending up at "try em all yourself". But I'm a shaky buyer I need more I needed numbers then I got GH3 there was a setting for lag compensation!! so I was wondering if doing this test would tell me if it's the right one.

Yes, that is correct. Assuming you don't mess up the test by pressing the buttons poorly (it happens) that test will work pretty well.

But if you're still looking for a lag-free TV, get the one MLG uses:

Make sure to use the settings they describe though. (Most notably the VGA cable)
but if I use VGA it won't be in full HD?

Just regular TV's for Melee. Both the Wii and Gamecube can only output in standard definition. There are no HD Wii games.

Thus, all Wii games lag on HDTV's. Period.

even if you put them in the regular slots on an hdtv? and by the way the linko nly discusses 360 and I want to know if it will be the same fr ps3 too and they're using vga which I'm not sure what it is or if it looks better or worse then hdmi.
