Smash 3DS Controls on New3DS

Has our ability to use the new little knob for Smash attacks, as well as ZL+ZR for additional shielding options, been completely nerfed on the New3DS? I can't even use it in offline mode now and don't remember turning those off. Checking the controls pane does nothing as the buttons seem not to exist there.

You do realize that those aren't used in smash bros 3ds at all except for activating amiibos. Those buttons are for newer games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3d. But as always, I could be wrong since I don't really research and don't own a new 3ds

I just bought a new 3ds and they are all usable for me, maybe you just deactivated them or something?
ZL and ZR work as a grab and shield respectively and the knob as a sort of c-stick.

I think they worked in an online battle I had earlier. It's like the system suddenly thought it was a regular 3DS. I never deactivated them.

By default, ZR is the grab and shield, and ZL just shields - the opposite of L and R. These can be customized.

I had the same problem. I just restarted the system and then it worked for me again.

Then why chime in at all? The New 3DS buttons are compatible with Smash 3DS. His problem concerns them suddenly not working after working before.

Anyway, seems like something that could be fixed with a simple restart like the above post. If the problem persists, it might be something to see about getting repaired by Nintendo.

This isn't even the bad one. I know someone who can download and view replays, but can't upload them. He had to wipe the whole game - including a ton of replays - to try to fix it. Haven't seen him post any since then, but likely has to find one worth posting first (or it's still not working).

Also, my extra buttons work again.
