So what are our options for controllers here?

The Wii remote which I have heard the basic button layout for, not the best but well done for the remote.

The classic controller. This is where i get confused, I'v seen a classic controller you can buy for the Wii to play certain games and then there is the game cube remote that also works in Wii's.

Is the game cube controller what they mean or the new classic Wii remote?

Well re-reading ya post. Im not quite sure what you meen. But basicly, lilke buzz posted, any of the control styles work. Its simply preference.
