Controller vibration?

It just occurred to me that I have never heard an explanation for why many players turn off controller vibrate. I don't because it's never been a thought to me or ever bothered me. Is it just because it's bothersome to some people or is there more to it?

It feels uncomfortable. Some players even remove the motor to make it lighter and to never have to change the rumble setting

Honestly, I used to use Wavebirds for everything (my Nintendo wired one broke 2008 and my 3rd party wired one broke 2006), so I was used to having no rumble because Wavebirds didn't have rumble (to conserve battery power).

I've always used rumble in Smash Bros games just because that was the default setting and I never cared to change it.

Recently, however, I'm testing out no rumble now that I've begun to attend local tournaments and it does feel better/less annoying.

Same reason I never changed it. I guess I may as well try it without

I...always use rumble myself. I never really understood the deal with everyone turning it off. I guess I just don't see how it could throw you off so much that you need to turn it off. I've tried it and it just feels kinda like the controller's dead in my hands. All my friends turn rumble off, maybe I'll have to give it a go myself. Who knows, maybe it's the thing than i need to mix up in my competitive career to advance ever farther lol

When you are making fast, precise inputs under pressure over a very small area do you want that area to also be shaking violently?
I sure don't.

I never used to notice it with my old controller so I would always just leave it on, but with my new white controller it's very noticeable, probably due to having a brand new, stronger rumble pack, so I turn it off.

I always figured since tactile feedback is significantly faster than visual that rumble would help. It doesn't seem to bother me either way.

Why would your controller be vibrating at a time when you are making precise inputs? The only time your controller really rumbles at all, and not "violently" at that, is when you get smacked in the face or when you die, so the only precise movements I can think of during any of those two situations is smash DI or something, which is less precision and more "OhMyGodSmashTheStickAsFastAsICanTHISWAY".

Just personal preference. I can go either way. Sometimes it feels good since it's like a mini massage to help get the blood back into your hands. That and it feels like your DI means something haha
