Controller Thumbstick Problem

Hello, my I noticed a few days ago that my thumbstick makes a thump sound except for the normal clack sound when I hit the outer-casing. So I inspected it and noticed that the rubber dome part of the stick hits the case except for the middle plastic part.

This is the thumbstick angled to the left side: http://imgur.com/EnLpS95

You can tell that on the right side there is a little gap between the rubber top and the plastic middle.
But the left side the rubber part touches the outer-case, very noticeable during play.

I opened up the case to see if there is anything in the actual board that's causing it. Couldn't find anything...

I also tried to change out the case and stick, still caused the same problem.

If anyone knows whats going on and can help me fix this ill be a great help! Thank you

If it's a problem that just recently started you may have messed it up with an extra hard flick. If it's always been like that/it's a new controller my guess is that it's a manufacturing problem and you should just get a different controller.
