Controller Shielding Glitch

I bought a couple of the white Japanese controllers from Amazon last May, and I've just recently been having an issue where my right trigger button is sticking. It seems like it only happens when I'm soft pressing for l-cancels, as I've never been able to recreate it from a hard press, but it's basically made the game unplayable on that controller. I'll be mid-combo and then I just start rolling and shielding when I stand still. Has anyone else dealt with a similar issue, and if so how did you fix it? Could the fix be as simple as deconstructing and cleaning the controller out?

I had a similar issue with my white controller. The reason why it would get stuck was that when I lightpressed, I would press it in slightly sideways and the controller would then get stuck. I assume the same is true for yours.
As far as I know, the white Japanese and the smash 4 controllers are all lacking a small iron spring that could be found in older controllers, which would prevent the triggers from getting stuck. You could add this spring (I think it might even just be a small metal strip) to your controller from an older one.

I think the problem might also be dealt with if you focus on pushing the trigger in straight. That's how I did it at least.
Details about your issue should be found in (the comments of) the following thread:

I generally do depress the trigger straight down otherwise I can feel it catch on the shell of the controller. Thanks for the link though, do you know on which page the issue is discussed?

No idea, not even sure whether it is in there - I'd guess it would be in there. I saw the same thing addressed in other threads about controllers too so perhaps you could use the search function.
worst case leave a comment about it in Kadano's thread I'd say.

I may do that, thanks man. Just bought a tri-wing screwdriver earlier, I'm gonna try to clean it out and see if that helps anything before I try anything more drastic. If anyone else has other alternate possibilities, lemme know!

From years of controller modding and, lately, selling modded controllers, I think that the best way to fix this is to apply a little bit of silicone oil to the outer end of the grey plastic tube that’s attached to your shoulder trigger, where it will rub against the inner part of the black plastic tube. This has solved the issue every time for me. I apply just a little bit with a Q-tip. (If you use too much, it could drip down on the rubber plate and cause squishy noises / sticking.)

Incredible, thank you guys so much for the help! I'll have to run out and find some silicon oil later tonight!

This isn't a new problem with my controller I bought it new a couple months ago and it's always been harder to press the shoulder buttons. Should I still use the oil instead of replacing with a spring from my old purple controller?
