So of course I've tried resetting it several times but my controller has a recurring issue of randomly light shielding. I already have triwings and all that but what is generally the problem/solution with this issue? A stuck trigger, needs to be lubed up or what have you guys found is the main cause/fix for this? I'm more than comfortable opening up and working on my controller I'd just prefer to know what I should probably be doing once I do that. Thank you for any help

It wouldn't happen to be a third party controller would it?
Does anyone still buy 3rd party controllers in 2015? At least Melee players? I've never seen someone have one. So na it's a non-sm4sh white controller

Oh, one of those controllers. Those white controllers have kind of finicky l-triggers because they're oddly missing the metal brackets around the triggers, and that causes some problems. Here's how I'd troubleshoot this:

1.) Take the controller apart and reset the little levers next to the rumble pack back to the maximum up position. Sometimes these get displaced.
2.) If that doesn't work, get a 4-wing screwdriver to take the plates holding your L and R triggers in place. Remove them, then either replace the triggers altogether or replace the bottom part they're mounted on. Those squishy white circles can sometimes get worn out and cause shielding issues.
3.) If that STILL doesn't work, I suggest you either find some metal brackets from other controllers and attatch them to the new triggers, or just replace the back entirely with a different model of GC controller. I suggest doing this anyways for a smoother trigger press.
