Controller problems

Though I can manage fine with an N64 controller, I find the original N64 controller to be bad. After playing for a bit, my hand that I use for the stick and Z button hurts because of the other side of the controller hitting my hand. A new stick starts at being good and then progressively gets worse making things harder to perform.

I've been looking at the hori mini pad's and they look promising since there's only two handles rather than three and the stick is supposed to be gamecube-like? Does anyone have experience with this controller? There's a couple on ebay but I don't know if I should buy one.

Does the stick feel responsive? Are you able to move around the stage without a hitch? I heard the controller takes a while to get used to. How was it for you?

Isn't it your hand hitting the thing?

And there is a hori minipad thread you could ask there and get more answers.

you get used to 64 controller if you use it, and then it doesnt hurt anymore. So stick with it!

The hori mini works better than the N64 original for me, but I'm a KB player who's tried both, not an N64 Player who made the switch.

For smash, get the hori pad. I am always talking the controller up on this site. After getting it, every aspect of my game improved after only a couple hours of gameplay. DI actually feels manageable. The stick feels like a gamecube stick with a couple of exceptions. It is larger, and a little looser (this is not a problem for me, and I assume it wouldn't be for most of you). After a lot of use, the control stick will probably become discolored, so its resale value will drop, but who cares? I am never going to sell mine.

There is one problem, but I do not notice it when I play smash. The stick is pretty sensitive. Enough to throw me off when playing goldeneye/perfect dark, and some other games. However I find it to be great still for wave race, and games with high demand of control such as said game, or games like Super Mario 64.

Get this controller. This is the highest personal recommendation I can give. Now you just need to figure if it is worth more money than a brand new modern game system controller.
