Smash Wii U Controller options?

I need some help navigating these menus. Is it possible to use the 3DS as a controller when playing online? So far all I seem to be able to do is play normal smash with friends when using the 3DS.

Yeah I made a thread asking the same question, and I got the answer that the 3DS can only be used in Smash, 8 Player Smash and Special Smash... sorry bud :(

No problem - I was just sad that I couldn't use the 3DS online because I wanted to main the Wii U Pro but I don't have one haha
