Control issues with Smash 4

I've played sm4sh for quite a while now and I've enjoyed it immensly. However, there is one problem that probably might sound familiar to some ears. I consistently have trouble with inputting the right move from time to time. These include mostly things that are circlepad-related, like using certain specials at an angle, rolling instead of sidestepping, and a fastfall Nair/Fair, but the 3DS in general also seems less responsive than the good old GC controller. Don't get me wrong, I think Nintendo did a very good job with Smash 4 when it comes down to the 3DS control-wise, but the difference with previous iterations is noticeable.

Am I the only one having so much trouble with this, or is it a common problem? If so, what do you guys do to work around it? Do mishaps with the controls affect the gameplay too much?

how old is you 3DS? and before you bought Smash, how often and how hard where you playing with it? I also have some imput issues with my system, but before I got the game, i was playing Mario Kart 7 almost everyday, so even my shoulder buttons were getting loose. if anything, try to reconfigure the command buttons or try to work with it. Really wish I could help out more, but good luck

Let's see... something like 2 years? While I didn't play a lot on the long term before I got smash 4 , I did play quite a lot in short "bursts" whenever I got my hands on a game I was hyped for, so that might have degraded the buttons a bit. Thankfully I haven't seen the circlepad come loose yet. >.>

For whatever reason, today I've been screwing up my aerials a lot. I try to pull of a Fair, and it is registered as a Dair. Or I attempt a Nair and it performs a Fair. Maybe I'm just unintentionally doing it wrong due to the finicky circle pad, but whatever. I also find myself pulling off Smashes when I actually wanted Tilts, too. This does affect me the odd time, but it's just more embarrassing than anything :p

Nah the same happens to me with mario and falcon, I think it's because of us having to slide circle pad instead of pushing and pulling it like you would a analog, so the circle pad can pick up the most subtle of motions in your thumb without you actually knowing you're holding in said position.
