Im having horrible consistency with my metaknight :\. on most matches i do everything perfect but then theres those matches that i completely lose control, do the wrong moves (like doing side smash instead of dsmash), making silly mistakes that can be easily fixed but happens. This only happens when i play mk and no other char i dnt know why?

my question is...how can i fix this problem i have. (i also have real consistency issues in real life as well lol maybe it has something to do with that too :\?) pls help i wanna fix this so i dnt suck xD

its not a consistency issue.

you play scrubs so you can execute everything perfectly. then you play good people so your "combos" and rhythm dont work because its been adapted to do the things that look sweet and **** your opponent but dont work because others are smart enough to get out. so it seems to be inconsistency because you miss your hits or space them wrong, but really it is the skilled opponent disrupting your rhythm with intelligent gameplay. consistency isnt difficult, mash the a button and you will see consistency. but to see consistent POSITIVE results, you must play an inconsistent style. by changing and adapting your game to beat your opponent you will achieve a consistent victory.

or you could just consistently suicide 3 times in a row and youve got a consistent lose. i think thats your best bet to be consistent.

That was actually constructive and useful information until that figurative "**** you" in that last paragraph. >.>

Do not become predictable but do not think about not being predictable while playing. Practice till (this sounds funny) your style of play at least in your head is predictable but is "random" to your opponent. stay calm and every now and then wait like half a second before excecuting attacks, alot of times you'll see what you were heading into and it may not have been pretty.

actually its against good people.and yes i have suicided 3 times but not on purpose it just happens. and yes i know not to be predictable just im doing the wrong moves at wrong times everything. like when i faced a pro IC he got me with a ussual grab combo stock kill then the match went downhill and suicided twice. faced the same person rapd his *** 1 stock over. its just whether facing a bad player or not i still lose for foul reasons. Lost against a 11 yr old neighbor who barely playd the game(using yoshi god sake) today lost due to forgetting jumps which i know is 5 but i totally forgot and then theres times i forgot to upB/glide to recover and those are only on some matches >_>. I know how to play the game shears its just the ending result for some reason ****s me up. Facd a good falco player this morning, i got him great it was an even match then 2nd match came...and (shows nuke exploding) got rapd 3 stock to nothing then 3rd match came and i won. I personally think its a mental problem cause it happens in my life too? Sometimes i work great at my job othertimes i forget what im doing and mess everything up. Another occasion i be driving down my street and stop at the stop sign, next day i dnt stop and hit the stop sign (minor dent :p). Do the same math problem twice and get totally different results :\. I really appreciate what you are doing shears and your explanation did IN FACT help me and i greatly appreciate that ty. but its not really my physical game its me mental >_< dunno maybe i have stuff going through me life that i cannot see thats interferin i dunno.

edit: but thing is this happens to ONLY my metaknight :\. doesnt happen to my other mains, i will admit defeat from a better player but from someone less skilld well you know.

1-800-SUICIDE its the national suicide prevention hotline. it should help with most of those problems.

no but really, youre suiciding because youre too risky with metaknight. because he can edgeguard greatly and has great recovery doesnt mean you can be risky. sometimes you shouldnt go for the gimp because your opponent may expect your edgeguarding and cause you to suicide. just because you have 5 jumps doesnt mean you need to use them all. use 2 of them off the edge, grab on the ledge and chase them again, but dont use all 5 because if you mess up or they get you, you wont have the jumps to get back.

I had to learn this on my own. I would almost always take all 5 jumps, knocking the opponent around. Then I would try to get to the stage, and get spiked by someone or didn't have enough juice to get back to the stage (even with shuttle loop) because I was below the stage.
