I've noticed something... do you remember the update about if u were to hold down A you would do consecutive attacks? well i watched some E for all videos and i saw that meta knight was hitting someone at least 4 times in a split second... is this the result of just holding down the A button? and if u were to press it multiple times would it be slower? and do you think others that have more than one attack in the air can do this to? Discuss.

That's a good question. I remember that update, but I don't remember Gimpy mentioning it. Asking in his thread might get him to reply faster than creating a new thread, and will probably make mods happier.

Rapid A attacks will still be as situational and as overall useless as in the last game. I bet four bucks that Samurai Panda will close this before Youko or Gimpy.

What, I don't count anymore? :(

To me it soulds just like Melee. Mash A on Kirby and he does his flurry punch thing. Same with Falco, Fox, Falcon and Link. I could be wrong, but that's what it sounds like to me.

Gimpy described the holding A thing as "just a simplified control scheme (paraphrasize)." I think that, therefore, most or all attacks can be executed without it, too.

Uhh, doesn't anyone else remember what it says inside the Standard Combo update?

"Meta Knight is somewhat unique. His standard attack is an unbelievably rapid sequence of slices. Just press and hold the button to unleash a rampage. "

The thing that makes me sad is his attacks are weak as all even with the many times he hits :( but i guess he has to be

most of you don't get it i'm talking about airil attacks he's done this in the air. and im talking SPLIT second attacks not what some of you are suggesting intstead of A A A (slash slash slash) u pres A and hold it down in the air and he does (slash slash slash) as if it were 1 slash. he can do this in the air and on the gound. there are combos in the air now more than one attack. do you think others have this as well?

In hindsight, we could have over-analyzed this to confirm changes to Ness' down A (or his removal). It is, after all, an unbelievably rapid sequence of kicks. By the uniqueness of Meta's move, Ness probably couldn't have stayed in with that particular ability untouched.

I'm glad that no one brought that up (if they didn't). It probably would have resulted in 20+ pages of baseless speculation and flame wars. Yes, that statement of mine was baseless (or semi-baseless) speculation. I'm a hypocrite.

EDIT@rayman: You're right, I didn't get what you were talking about. I'm pretty sure that that was just one attack with multiple hits. Check t!Mmy's Metaknight thread on the appropriate boards. Here, I'll link you: Behind the Mask.

Here, I found the relevant quote:
t!Mmy's Awesome Guide said:

Another Kirby clone attack, but Meta Knight strikes three times in front of him with the third strike being fairly strong. These three hits are very quick.
Sorry for the confusion.

This thread is full of epic fail.

Meta Knight attacks faster
Meta Knight attacks so much faster, and in a special way, that one "normal" attack is "three" of his attacks
His attacks OBVIOUSLY, I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE, ARE YOU TOO STUPID TO UNDERSTAND BASIC GAME DEVELOPMENT AND MATH? 3 ATTACKS PER 1 NORMAL ATTACK, WAIT, OMFG, COULD IT POSSIBLy DO 1/3 THE DAMAGE?
Thus, Meta Knight does less damage with each "individual" "attack".

Wow smash boards, I would hate to be a mod here. I would've banned all of you.

Yay at spam and starting flame wars! Even though that wasn't my intention :psycho:

You idiot. Nobody was talking about how much damage the attacks did. We were discussing rapid attacks, whether or not Metaknight's Fair was an extension of his rapid attack and whether or not they were similar to attacks like Ness's dtilt or Links repeated A.

Yay at the thought of you banning yourself with your own club, troll. Go choke on a billygoat.
