Smash Journeyman
I haven't seen a thread specifically about this, so here we go. So, every smasher knows about the Pokeball, that when thrown a Pokemon pops out and aids the one who summoned him (except Electrode). So, this thread is about the Pokemon and their function. And if I don't have one listed, please feel free to post it, too.
Goldeen--does nothing but splash around (just like in Melee).
Chikorita--uses razor leaf and a storm of leaves attack one direction and damages opponent (just like in Melee).
Groudon--this guy's huge! Don't touch him cuz' he's HOTT (reminds me of Moltres in Melee).
Moltres--uses Fly. He stays close to the ground for a moment (throw your enemies into it now for massive damage) and then he flies away. Note: Moltres still can damage as he flies away.
Kyogre--moves around a little and uses hydro pump. The water has the same properties as F.L.U.D.D. and Squirtle's Water Gun: it pushes enemies away. Enemies that physically touch Kyogre will sustain some damage.
Deoxys--flies up to the top of the stage and unleashes a powerful hyper beam.
Munchlax--walks around and eats items on the board he comes in contact with.
Snorlax--jumps up to the top of the screen and disappears...then falls back down but its size has significantly increased (just like in Melee).
Piplup--uses surf to push enemies off the stage (like Marill in Melee but no damage). Impossible (or near) to escape once caught in the attack. However, it's relatively easy to dodge since it gives you about 3-4 seconds of warning before it surfs away.
Torchic--uses a fire attack of some kind and scorches anyone around him.
Meowth--uses Pay Day and barrages his enemy with coins. It appears that he throws the coins at the initial direction of where his enemy was.
Suicune--uses aurora beam and fires an icy beam in front of itself. Any enemies caught in get heavy damage, frozen, and blasted to the side (like Sheik's light arrow). It's the only Pokémon that has a completely new move from Melee.
Lugia--does aeroblast from the back of the stage to decimate its opponents (just like in Melee).
Entei--unleashes a fiery vertical cyclone that traps and greatly damages foes. Also sends foes to the top of the cyclone (just like in Melee). The cyclone appears to be a little smaller, though...
Staryu--homes in on an opponent then uses swift (just like in Melee).
Bellossom--uses sleep powder around her to put enemies asleep (just like in Melee).
Ho-Oh--uses Sacred Fire from the back of the stage (similar to Entei) (just like in Melee). The cyclone of death is considerably larger than Ho-Oh's Melee attack, however...
Togepi--uses metronome to use a random move (just like in Melee).
Wobbuffet--smacks around anyone who touches him by using counter. Note that he is one of only a few Pokemon who can harm its summoner (just like in Melee).
Celebi--uses fly. Just appears and flies away...HOWEVER, it now leaves behind a present like a trophies (just like in Melee except now with the trophy extra).
Mew--uses fly. Just appears and flies away in its protective bubble...like above with Celebi, it now leaves a present behind like a CD (just like in Melee except now with the CD extra).
Jirachi--usus fly. Just appears and flies away...like the above Celebi and Mew, it leaves behind for us an array of stickers!
Bonsly--just walks around unless you throw this heavy pokemon. If he connects with an opponent, it does massive damage and knockback.
Electrode--sits there for a few seconds, turning darker and darker, then uses explosion. Note that Electrode can harm the summoner and also may malfunction sometimes (just like in Melee but now it may malfunction).
Metagross--uses earthquake (first grounds opponents then sends them flying upward)
Gardevoir--walks around using reflect causing a barrier to be around her (2/3 the size of luigi's FS). It acts as a Franklin Badge for the summoner.
Manaphy--uses heart swap (two people near Manaphy switch bodies but not stock or damage). The effect lasts for about 20 seconds.
Latias/Latios--one appears, calls the other, and then they race off the screen hitting opponents in the way.
Weavile--use false swipe. Dashes left and right in a chunk of the stage and repeats this for about 20 seconds. While the attack only does 1% damage per swipe, the attack causes you to become dizzy (with Weavile continually swiping back and forth he'll keep on adding little tidbits of damsge while trappiing you with the dizzy effect).
Gulpin--uses swallow (odd because in Pokémon games swallow was a heal move not an attack...). When an enemy gets close to him he eats them! He then deals damage to them. Wiggle the control stick/press buttons to escape in lesser damage. Note: While enemies are stuck in Gulpin, feel free to use your strongest move/combination of attacks as those attacks will also damage your enemy!
