Computer freezes when I go to record?

Just set up my Dazzle with Pinnacle Studio 14, but whenever I go to record a clip, my computer (laptop) completley freezes. I know it shouldnt have anything to do with my laptop itself, its a great laptop, no flaws memory wise or anything, so im assuming im doing something wrong, can someone help me out?
