Competitiveness of new smash

Not of just 3ds, but since it's been out for a month in japan and comes out this week and there's no obvious mechanic exploit or glitch out yet, does anyone think that smash's competitive scene will be negatively influenced by not being broken as ****? Brawl was a mess because it was meant to move away from the accidental competitiveness that came from people doing things in melee that was never meant to be possible. Since smash 4 was made to actually be a bit competitive, what's everyone's opinion on the possibility that the metagame for smash 4 will have to be looked at completely different than the others? Disclaimer: I barely got into melee or PM competitively and wrote off brawl competitively all together. Smash 4 seems to be an actual well put together game that will be patched to maintain balance. is it completely inaccurate for me to assume that melee and by extension PM worked on the basis of exploiting the mechanics instead of functioning as a game in it's own right?

Smash has never been designed to be competitive. Sakurai has said this himself.

It will definitely be viable though.

It will be played competitively. It's a new Smash game.

Seriously, how long is it going to take for people to figure this out?

That's my point. it never has. bu,t this game at least has spent some time in at least considering the competitive community and I'm wondering that since smash is being treated by the developers as an actual for real fighting game as well as a party game, how does everyone think that will affect the people that already treated like a serious fighting game? More time has went into making the game balanced, at least from a surface standpoint. I see smash 4 doing the best competitively, but as it's less janky and based mostly on glitches than it's predecessors, will people move to smash 4 or stick to PM?

does it matter, some will move to it some will stay with melee or pm and some will play all the games. its not like everyone moved from alpha to sf4 a lot did sure but there were some who didnt like 4 so they didnt switch

Honestly your question doesn't make any sense because Melee was still insanely popular before Wavedashing became the norm.

Melee is regarded for its high speed, momentum management, and availability of long combo strings. It has nothing to do with "glitches".

This thread will never get a solid answer because the question it's asking is loaded and ultimately flawed to begin with.

Yeah, it's not a good question, that's why I asked.

Wut.

Seriously?

I'm dumbfounded.

It's not often that I can't figure out an obnoxious snarky response to any given post, but you have defeated me by making no sense whatsoever.

And it only took you 10 words.

Bravo.

If I knew what I was talking about, why the hell would I bother asking questions?

If the question has no answer, than why ask it?

No one here is psychic. Even in my infinite glory, I can not see the future.

This game is waaayyyyy too new to start making decisions about it's viability as a competitive game.
Only time will give you the answer.

Besides that, there are arguments against even Melee as a good competitive game.

EDIT: I just realized that I only post on Smashboards these days when I feel like being an ass. Time to take a break.
