Why does it seem that Nintendo as a whole could care less about competitive gaming? Particularly the series of Smash Games.

I'm honestly so confused about Sakurai's view on this. They do seem to care about competitive gaming a little with Pokemon with the offical tournaments, but for Smash. Masahiro Sakurai (creator and director of the series) just doesn't like the community because they made his game (Melee) something totally else. A highly competitive game with a huge skill gap. But because this wasn't the way he intended it, he disliked this.
This is probably why he made Brawl anti competitive on purpose.
But they seem to care about competitive slighty considering they had some offical tournaments for Smash 4, but they were mostly for marketing.
And i could also say stuff like Gamecube controller adapters was made for the competitive community. Some also say For Glory was made for competitive, some people including me disagree.
But in general, i kinda agree that they should care about the competitive scene more. I wouldn't stop it from being a party game for all skill levels that Sakurai wants to make.
Even implementing something like "Melee mode" in Smash 4 would help, or atleast giving an HD update of Melee.
I feel like Sakurai doesn't even realize how much a competitive mode would help the game, and wants people to see it as a party game. Which is sad, considering how far a community can take a game if it's extremely deep like Melee.I'm honestly so confused about Sakurai's view on this.
Would it be so difficult to have a "party" mode and a "hardcore" mode on the same game?
They struck GOLD with melee, even if it wasn't intended, also aren't the majority of smash players the competitive players?
I get that you want to broaden your target audience, but why wouldn't you want to keep the people who made your game the great thing it is today happy?
1. Sakurai is unhappy with the fact that when someone makes a good game--such as Kirby--that people always expect there to be a sequel. That's like saying to the author of a book: "Hey, your book was really good, but you can do better. Write another one--one even grander than the last!" Sakurai made Smash 64 with 12 total characters, and now we have over 50 in Smash 4. He's being pressured to add so many things to his game, it's no surprise that he doesn't want to make any more sequels. Here's something that Sakurai didn't knew i remember that in a interview he said that Melee wasn't accessible to everyone. in Fact Melee was accessible to everyone it sold 7 million copies and was the Gamecube's best selling game. Anyone picked up and play it both casuals and competitive. Another thing about Sakurai that pissed me off is that he doesn't accept the fact that when you create a franchise you are going to get a lot a sequels and he doesn't want Smash Bros to get sequels and he doesn't want to make a sequel to Kid Icarus Uprising is so BS.
I Thank you for giving me points about my argument and i agree and i know that Melee was never meant to be this way and it was supposed to be a ''party game'' but i enjoy the competitive feel of Melee. it makes me enjoy the series even more and yeah Sakurai is trying to give us competitive outlets and we should sported.1. 2. Melee's skill-level and all it's advanced techs made it accessible to only those who devoted their life to the game. A "party game" such as Mario Party 1/2/3 required very little skill level and allowed anyone to pick up the game and beat anyone else. Sakurai wanted Melee to be a "party game", and the fanbase twisted it into a complicated fighting game.
I am not against competitive gameplay--I endorse it. But we're trying too hard to take Sakurai's series away from him, and when he tries to give us competitive outlets such as For Glory and the upcoming Tourney mode, we tell him "Hey, your idea was really good, but you can do better."
