First off, to be a jerk, "versus" is not a verb.
But to answer your question, yes, I've noticed. Usually if you slowly walk up to someone (so they don't suspect a dash attack) and then do a taunt, they'll catch on and taunt back. Then you sort of become allies. But some people don't know this and will just charge a smash while you're stuck taunting. If only Nintendo wouldn't be dumb and let us actually communicate with and friend people.
