I've wanted to do this for quite some time, now, and now that I have some decent streaming equipment, it looks like I'll finally be able to! Clown the Competition is an online tournament open to anybody who signs up through Challonge, and is the first (weekly/bi-weekly/monthly?) tournament that I will be hosting. If all goes as planned, I should be able to stream games from the start of the bracket to Grand Finals on www.twitch.tv/sonnet7. With all that stuff out of the way, let's move on to the ruleset.

Sign up through www.challonge.com/CtC1

NOTICE:
If you've signed up, DO NOT forget to check-in on Challonge at 6:30 CST!
The tournament begins at 7:00 pm CST!

-RULES-
2 stock, 6 minute
If timed out, the game will be settled by stock advantage. If tied, it will be settled by percent advantage.
Gentleman's rule is in effect (any stage may be chosen if both parties agree)
Dave's Stupid Rule is in effect (cannot counterpick to a stage previously won at)
Customs and equipment will be turned off.
Only Winners/Losers Finals and Grand Finals will be best of 5. The rest of the tournament will be settled through best of 3 sets.

|>Stage Striking and Counterpicking
To determine the first stage played on, players will strike stages (in order of 1-2-1, the lower seeded player is granted the first ban). Whichever stage remains is the one that will be chosen.
When counterpicking, any stage on the list may be chosen, but only after the winner of the last game has banned two stages of his choosing. These bans are separate, and to not carry over from the strikes before game one.

|>Starting Stages
Battlefield
Final Destination (Any omega is alright if agreed upon
Lylat
Smashville
Town and City

|>Counterpicks
Duck Hunt
Haliberd
Delfino Plaza
Castle Siege

All stages are based on the 2015 EVO ruleset.

Stream Link: www.twitch.tv/sonnet7
Any open games will be streamed (with commentary), and Winners/Losers semis through Grand finals will also be streamed.

Chat Room (for communication during the tourney): https://qchat.rizon.net/?channels=ClownTheCompetition

And that's about it! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Signups still open, and I should probably add that the seeds will be shuffled before the tournament begins.

Sorry I'm new to online and all tournaments (first tourney) but how does this work do I need to friend all of these people
Only when it's time to play them during your bracket. There's a link to a chatroom that will be available for the tourney, so you can get the NNID of your opponent from there.

Most of the discussion will run through the chatroom (linked at the end of the post). The challonge bracket will be open to you guys, so it's up to the winner of each set to report the scores.

On a side note, is a 3DS all you have? This tourney is for WiiU :/

They could, but I've played in tournaments like this before, and people are generally VERY honest about the results. If something like that happens, they can come to me and report the issue.

If you go back to the Challonge page at any time between 6:30-7:00 CST, it'll prompt you to "check in" at the top of the screen, next to your registration settings. This pretty much let's us know that you're here and ready to play. If you don't, then it'll remove you from the bracket.
