So, way back when I was a little kid, I played my Blue version of pokemon and loved it...then I felt bored and decided to try to make a competitive team out of the team I had used in RBY (mewtwo excluded)!
Keep in mind that the team has to stay as is, I'm not trying to make this team the best it can be. I'm just looking for opinions/suggestions/improvements based on the pokemon I have to work with
Lead: Alakazam@Leftovers
Timid / Inner Focus
24 HP / 252 SpAtk / 232 Spe
Substitute
Encore
Psychic
Signal Beam
An Encore lead...I try to encore sr or a statup move (perhaps something like fake out too) then hit the switch-in. He's powerful enough and fast enough to see use through to the lategame. The HP EVs let him sub 4 times.
Jolteon@Leftovers
Timid / Volt Absorb
252 HP / 252 Spe / 4 SpDef
Substitute
Wish
Discharge
Baton Pass
Wish/sub passer, handy twave absorber. General paralysis support, fast enough to stop adamant dd gyara at +1 in case starmie bites it beforehand.
Gengar@Life Orb
Hasty / Levitate
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpDef
Substitute
Focus Punch
Shadow Ball
Will-O-Wisp
Meant to look like a standard LO gengar firing off shadow balls...lures out blissey/other special wall and subs against it. Will-o-wisp if I suspect a physical switch-in, and start firing off Focus Punches and Shadow Balls behind the sub. Shadow Ball is still powerful even without EV/nature investment.
Starmie@Choice Scarf
Modest / Natural Cure
4 Def / 252 Spe / 252 SpAtk
Surf
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Psychic
Revenge killer. Its type coverage is useful to handle a lot of things.
Rhydon@Life Orb
Jolly / Rock Head
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpDef
Rock Polish
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Megahorn
Rock polish sweeper. Truth be told, he doesn't fit on this team very well since an electric immunity isn't as important as it was in rby, AND it's not rhyperior. plus jolteon is already on here, but this set can still threaten a sweep and basically receive a free switch-in from an electric attack directed at starmie or gyara.
Gyarados@Life Orb
Jolly / Intimidate
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpDef
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Ice Fang
Earthquake
Standard DD gyara. Jolly to help an endgame sweep.
Any suggestions to improve these given pokemon are welcome, remember this is an RBY team adapted to the current metagame (sorta).
