So while Classic mode is sure to return in Smash 4, we know very little about how its going to work. It's probably still going to be around 12 stages long and have you fight Master Hand at the end but I am hoping for some noticeable improvements. The problem with Brawl's classic mode was that it was too close to the original game's 1p mode. You fought the same types of enemies every time, in the same order and even worse, break the targets were also the same for every character and there was no more 'race to the finish' or 'board the platforms'.

For Smash 4, they need to go back to the Melee style of Classic mode which followed a pattern (Stage 2 = 2vs2, Stage 5=3vsGiant character, etc) but your opponents were completely random. There was never a stage where you always fought a giant Donkey Kong or battled Pokemon in a stadium. For 'Break the Target' have unique stages for each character, instead of just five stages that you play through with every character. Along with this bring back 'race to the finish', 'board the platformers' and maybe even 'snag the trophies'. These stages will help prevent this mode from getting repetitive.

And quickly on the subject of single player mode, have more than one trophy for each fighter. It was so disappointing in Brawl that you could only unlock one trophy for each fighter, whereas in Melee you could get a classic trophy, a melee-style trophy and an alternate costume trophy. It also felt kind of lazy since most of the trophies in Brawl were the exact same models from the game mode. A good chunk, if not the majority of Melee's trophies were designed solely to be trophies.

But I digress, what do you guys think?

I think this mode has already been hinted on the 3DS trailer shown at E3.

Check the video from 0:09.

It appears it will have different choices and more interactivity.

Of course, this is assuming that is the Classic Mode. Anyway, it appears there will be new mini-games as hinted by this trailer, so we may expect more variety from the mode.

This was from the 3DS version, but some aspects might carry over into the Wii U version.

^ I caught that too, it looks really interesting.

I don't mind Classic Mode but I hope they do some new exciting twists to it. But I wanna find Master Hand at the end haha.

I hated the old classics because your success on higher difficulties often depended more on luck then anything. I hope the different routes are set or that there's a FD mode for classic.

I hope that they make it more difficult this time around; Classic Mode in the previous games was too easy.
