I have a quick question for those that have played Brawl. How is it with the classic controller? is it better with the GC controller? could you get use to playing it with the classsic? I want to get a classic controller for it but im not sure about it yet. Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind that nobody has played with the GC controller yet--only those controllers that were provided. The best you'll get is a Brawl w/ classic to Melee w/ GC comparison.

From my experience (with the Virtual Console, I haven't demoed Brawl yet), the control stick on the Classic Controller is a bit uncomfortable in 3D games because it's designed to feel like a SNES controller. GameCube controller is designed with 3D games in mind, and the control stick is easier to reach.

I like to know this as well since I will be using the GC controllers more often.

For me, for some reason, i kept accidently jumping when i was trying to do a forward smash, really threw me off all the time
*grabs classic controller*

That's just the round shape of the controller affecting your grip, and the position at which you hold the control stick. Like I said, the GC controller has an easier-to-reach stick, which makes movement and attacks feel more natural. The Classic controller has your thumb at an odd angle, and may take some getting used to before you stop accidentally hitting the stick at a diagonal whenever you move it to the right.

From an outside point of view, I can see most Melee owners using the GC controller because they're already used to it. (I'm actually just using it for the rumble, like Sakurai) Newbies to the series will likely gravitate to the Classic controller or the Wiimote/Nunchuk because they already own one, and it means they don't have to deal with the wires. It's an even trade-off. Nobody will play with just the remote. That would be stupid.

To me it looks like the 3d stick from the classic is really hard to reach. And that it's not easy to hold the controller. It looks like that ... but I hope it won't be as bad as I think, because GC controllers won't live forever...

So what controller was provided to play with at the demos? To me it also looks like it would fell better with the GC controllers but the thing is, I can find classic controllers better here.

It will just take some time to get used to it. It's not a bad control scheme (judging by the games I have played with the Classic Controller), just a different one. And there's no rumble.

The Wiimote alone and the Classic Controller were available at E for All, if I recall correctly.

Oh okay.. as long as it's not too bad and you'll get used to it it's okay I guess ^^ no rumble? That's sad... but I've turned it off anyway >_>

while on the subject of classic controllers, can you use them to play gamecube games on the wii? or only GC controllers work?

Unfortunately, no. It would be a lot easier than getting out the 'cube controllers whenever I wanted to play Melee, but apparently that option isn't available. I think it's the sort of thing that can be fixed with a Wii system update, though. If so, maybe we'll see it in the future. If not, then I guess we won't.
