How EXACTLY is it done?
Large font size used for the mentally incompetent.

To further clarify:

As I hear it, the only action required to l-cancel is to fastfall your aerial. My confusion arises in the similarity Brawl has to Smash64.

In Smash64, you cannot fastfall during an aerial. In Melee you can. Is this is same in Brawl?

Has anyone thought about the complexity of l-canceling in the case that you cannot fastfall during an aerial?

Gimpyfish's Brawl Impressions said:
L Canceling – Alright, the very last day we had the demo we finally figured this one out. You CAN l cancel, and l canceling removes all the lag from your aerials. Remember that l cancel stands for LAG cancel, NOT the button that you press. You l cancel in brawl by fast falling and then doing your aerials, it takes a bit of getting used to, but it’s obviously useful to have no lag after moves. You don't actually have to press a button, as long as you are fast falling before you do your aerial you should l cancel.
Does this answer your question?

This is a good question I guess, but it certainly didn't need it's own thread.

Actually, Orlandu, I've seen a lot of people who are misinformed about the new L canceling, so I'm glad that he posted it.

For future reference, Gimpy's impressions thread might be a better place for miscellaneous questions, but I'd take this over any of the spam prophet threads.

Does it look like it answers my question? He only says you have to fastfall before you do an aerial. He doesn't say if you can fastfall during an aerial. I'm asking specifically if you can fastfall during an aerial like you can in melee. I'm also asking, if you cannot fastfall during an aerial, if anyone realizes how amazingly complex it makes l-canceling now.

I'm wondering if anyone actually understands what that means. Because they should remember: you don't want to fastfall every aerial attack you do. Which means now people will need to consider: Do I l-cancel this aerial, or do I not? Or at what time should I fastfall -> aerial? Should I psych my opponent out? Should I bait them, make them think I can't space/attack properly?

Point is, if you cannot fastfall during an aerial, Brawl l-cancel > melee l-cancel in terms of complexity.

Wow, doing shffls will be much harder now, as you have to fastfall first, it's probable that you'll be in the ground before you pressed the button to attack...

Thanks for making this thread actually, I was sort of confused too. It sounds simpler in Brawl now, thankfully.

Does anyone have an answer to my question? >_>

Anyone feel like speculating the incredible complexity of the possible no-fastfall-while-attacking?
