Have you ever seen one of those crazy guys that play Little Mac?
I hope they don't think they're good at this game, I've had the worst experiences while fighting a Little Mac.
It usually goes like this:
1. Move to the middle of the stage
2. Wait untill the player tries to move to you/Little Mac
3. Move back to the far end of the stage
4. Dash to him
5. Dash Attack
6. Repeat steps 1-5

After you've done those you've probably got him on a high precentage, now do steps 1-4 and change 5. to Smash Attack.
Repeat that and you've won for glory congrats

If it's predictable to the point where you are able to put it down on a list then there is no excuse not to be able to punish it.

This could help some people, though...
I've learned to punish it yes, although when I've tried this "Technique" it worked on most people and they got destroyed.

Yeah the key is to limit the amount of space he has to close in on you, and since it's only FD on 4G, that means going towards the edge. It's hardly that I'm trying to gimp him, it's just that his roll is so damned efficient with his jab speed and tilt/smash priority that it becomes necessary to play a zoning style. At first I really didn't like him because I thought he was overpowered, but now I just don't like him because he forces a very boring play-style.

Finally someone understands me! I can't believe there is someone who can't see how boring it is to play vs Little Mac to have a chance. Reminds me of Ice Climber Chaingrabs in Brawl(not THAT bad, but you get the idea)

If we're talking about For Fun, sure, it's very boring and disrespectful way to play. Thankfully, items and stage events mitigate this.

If we're talking about For Glory, pick Little Mac and win 100% of your matches! ... or slowly realize that he's quite beatable and just learn to win. Did you notice how the For Glory category is specifically not the For Fun category?

So it is bad to want to have a fun and a serious match?! You have to be kidding

Most competitive players derive fun from the very fact that each player will be doing everything possible to win the match. That is why the mode exists: to give two players an uninterrupted opportunity to fight their best. You cannot sit there and be upset at how some other player plays. Personally, I have fun in all my matches. Whenever someone camps, stalls, or some other "undesirable" tactic, I just have more fun figuring out how to nullify it. It's not bad to want to have fun, but it is bad to expect others (as in strangers on the Internet) to cater to your definition.

You also kind of can't expect everyone to have such a transcendent attitude as your own. Sure this sounds great in theory, but in practice it is a whole different story. You claim to have fun in 100% of your matches, but I think we both know that that is not the case. I too enjoy overcoming an unfavorable match-up, but that doesn't mean that I haven't fallen victim to rage at the hands of any of these very frustrating characters :4bowserjr: :4link: :4duckhunt: :4pacman: :4sonic: :4diddy: :4dedede: :4pikachu: :rosalina:

It's nice to say that you should enjoy nullifying undesirable tactics, but it just simply isn't that easy, even for veteran players.
I see where you're coming from, and I agree almost whole-heartedly - but you have to admit that the game does give a lot of levity to the characters with access to such tactics, and I think that's what is most frustrating to people.

If I ever fail to enjoy a match, it often results from outside factors. (I've been sick this week. It sucked.)

I do enjoy all my matches. All of them. I am deeply invested in the competitive community. I certainly don't like losing, but it doesn't take away from my overall enjoyment. I want to take the game as far as it will let me.

Sure, I can't expect everyone to share my attitude, but no one can ever expect me to avoid certain characters, avoid certain techniques, or goof off to make my opponent happy. The common theme in these complaint threads is this: "I am full of skill, and I lose to people who lack skill."

Amen. People play their characters to try and win how they can. Learning to overcome all the different playstyles, even playstyles you wouldn't enjoy using yourself, is part of the competitive spirit. Unless they're exploiting a game-breaking glitch, I don't see much point getting worked up over how your opponents choose to play the game.

The problem is, at a competitive level he's actually kind of cool. Huge risk/reward, and even if he dictates the way the round will be played the matches are fast wins or fast losses for him, which isn't the most boring thing in the world... it's nothing like DHD's pace and game changing quality that seems to set the stage for the same type of fight no matter who the opponent is. (I know this isn't about DHD, just showing that Mac isn't the biggest offender) I don't play him because of these kind of outlooks even though I find his power very fun. He's just simple, but the ceiling cap for options is so much lower than most other fighters that if you don't play to perfection, get out of the ring. Anyone can pick him up, but not everyone will master him properly.

He is monstrous at beginner-intermediate though, I will give you that. But if your cause is to shed light on him for people who don't know how to deal with the common playstyle, then you're not giving those who use him effectively enough credit, as they actually have a pretty hard time vs many MUs and in general at higher leagues of play.

4 out of 5 little macs I encounter I don't have that much trouble beating. Just stick to the side and use throws often. When he stays in the middle, you spam projectiles. As easy as that. But, when the lag is unbearable and you can't really see what's going on, you're done for. At least I am.

I agree with this 100%. At first I hated LM.. not because of the character, but because 4G caters to him... hard. I got tired of playing against people who lost then ran to LM... so I did it to someone who did it to me. I made a discovery.. .he's actually REALLY fun to play with. But that fear in playing against him is a two way street. That's a pretty real feeling to know that if you make a mistake you can just get gimped with really no way to prevent it. I have a newfound respect for decent Mac players.

Just learn the MU, get better at punishing, and stop whining about a character who isn't nearly as "broken" as a lot of clearly misinformed people think.

Quit crying jeez. If this worked even most of the time. I wouldn't lose to anyone. I'm tired of all these little mac haters. Little mac is pretty set in how he fights. He's a ground game character. There aren't too many options to start with and especially not much when a beginner has him. Why don't you projectile stall him when he runs to the other end? Then lay waste when he's closer to the edge(of for glory)? Different people have different play styles. I can't tell you how many zero suits spam the whip grab, flip and kick crap or the amounts of Bowsercides I've dealt with. Every character has something like this. You can cry about it or learn how to deal with it and win. Your choice.

Meet these people all the time, and usually just switch to my own Mac, and most of them ragequit after one game, or desperately try switching to ZSS and Ganondorf, jumping off the map when they lose one stock.

Preach brother, i see too many people giving Mac heat. I can name 6 characters at the top of my head that are not only easier to use and more OP but also very common in for glory or competitive play.
