I want to get a better way to record matches than recording it with a digital camera so i was thinking i could go out and buy a dvd player that records dvds. after recording i would put the dvd in my computer and just windows movie maker etc. from there.

would this work if so then tell me if ive got the right idea and if not then how would i go about getting better recordings (without a capture card i have one and it was a waste of money because it was broken and i couldnt return it ).

I know only that there is no cheaper way to record a match witch the Digital Camera from the TV, only methods wich needs more equipment.
The quality of the vids is changing in proportion of the camera and the TV are.

Oh god, sry for that english I hope its good enough xD

(Puffin posting from a friend's account):

My setup is $80, so it probably isn't in your budget, but you can get a capture card on Amazon for $50 (the PVR-150), then get an RF modulator for you Wii/Gamecube and split the resulting cable, one to the computer and one to the TV. Works great.

the way my friend records our matches is he records the match with a video tape and he has some dvd that converts vids recording on to dvd and then puts it on the computer.
if your going to look for one you should think about buying a dvd player that can convert tapes into dvds.
not sure if that is cheap though so you could see how much it is when you go to buy a dvd

Really cheap recording method:

VCR (You should be able to find one at a yard sale or secondhand shop for cheap): $10 or so
Blank tapes: $7, pack of 10

Now, getting it from VHS to computer usually requires a capture card, wires, and software. But this is much cheaper than digital cameras.
