Hello! I was only able to take interest in Smash for Wii U's YouTube uploading capabilities recently, and I wanted to share a particular replay I saved while playing as Charizard :4charizard:, where I used his nuetral special, Flamethrower, as a unique tool for setting up combos for those stuck trying to get back to the ledge (in this case, Marth :4marth:).

I don't think Flamethrower works consistently as an edge-guarding tool, because hitting opponents resets their up special, but for fighters who have lackluster recovery moves I think it can be used to combo them pretty well. But what do I know? What do you guys think? Did I just get lucky? Has anyone else discovered a creative way to use Flamethrower?

Using flamethrower as an edgeguarding tool actually puts them in the 50 frames of being unable to grab the ledge. This means that they have to time their up b to sweetspot again or they end up making themselves vulnerable to whiffing the edge completely and getting fsmashed. Against characters with fuel based recoveries, you can drain their fuel. Against villager you can pop the balloons without hitting him if you're spaced well.

And there are always the players that buffer a roll as soon as they get on the edge, making them vulnerable to buffering an air dodge after getting hit by the flamethrower and putting them in a worse situation.
