I have SSB for wii u and I've unlocked every character but ROB and duck hunt but I have no idea why they aren't appearing for me to fight and unlock. I read that to unlock them you need to fight a certain amount of battles but I've cleared classic mode over 50 times now (so well over 300 battles) and they still haven't shown up. Is there something I'm not doing right to make them show up? Thanks in advance for the help!

Yeah those characters require different unlock requirements(and that means not playing classic)

For Duck hunt
  • KO one fighter in Cruel Smash(you will also unlock the duck hunt stage doing this).
  • Play 100 VS matches.
For R.O.B.
  • Play through at least 10 rounds of Crazy Orders
  • Play 60 VS Matches.
Obviously, the second option is the easier. Just play 1 stock matches against the CPU and kill yourself(it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it still counts as a match.)

Have fun! :D

"Matches" in Classic don't count towards unlocking, unfortunately. But as Sanchoco said, there are alternate methods..

I never understood why people do this. That's not fun and it makes your character's record go down the tubes. At least play 1 stock 300% damage battles. It still goes by pretty fast and you can do something besides just killing yourself.

Fun is subjective.
That's true. What's your point? It should have been clear that I was stating my opinion because I was the one talking. You should always assume that when people talk they're going to give their opinion on things. And besides, who finds it fun to just kill yourself repeatedly?

Doesn't matter if it was your opinion. You're acting baffled that people want to unlock characters as quick as possible but the way they go about it isn't "fun" by your standards. The concept isn't that hard to grasp.

Wow. Okay. I fail to see why you feel the need to attempt to belittle me. I wasn't acting, as you say. It was a genuine thought. When I unlocked R.O.B. I had to play quite a few more Smash battles. So, instead of just killing myself repeatedly, I did just as I suggested in my post and played 1 stock 300% damage battles. Because for me, that was more fun. And I don't understand why people would rather do something that's not fun instead of doing something that is fun.

Like you said, your opinion.

3 reasons(all subjective)
1. They think it's more fun to have all characters unlocked(so friends can play those characters much faster)
2. Some people don't really care about records
3. (my personal opinion), changing to stock, 1 life > changing to stock, 1 life, increase damage to 300%(a.k.a. I'm too lazy)
