Character switch

I've noticed that in some tournaments/videos, people switch their character after they lose their stock, automatically, not like Zelda and Sheik can. Can somebody tell me how to set this and can it be done in Smash 4?

It's done using the special mode called All Star. This cannot be done in Smash 4.
