Character Idea: Pete (not Jack anymore) from Harvest Moon

Can't shake this feeling I've done this topic already, but I couldn't find anything on the search.

Name: Jack Pete
Game: Harvest Moon series
Company: Natsume
Symbol: Chicken

A: Pitchfork (long range, little damage & kinda slow)
B: Watering can (makes a small area of the floor slippery)
>B: Pulls a random object (stone, piece of wood, weed or egg) out of his rucksack & throws it.
^B: Tornado spin with sicle.
vB: Downward axechop.
Super: Turns around, gets a paniced look on his face & runs from a rampaging flock of chickens.
Taunt: heavy huffs, wipes sweat from his forehead.

Victory pose 1: See above pic.
Victory pose 2: gets kissed on the cheek by random HM girl
Victory pose 3: Picks up his dog & hugs him.

Yes, I dare to suggest that a farmer be a playable character in a fighting game, but I think there's enough reasons to warrent him.

1. There's room in SSB for completely quirky characters. Plenty of room in fact. Besides, he's more believable than Animal Crossing characters (what with that axe & all)
2. He's been on many Nintendo-released games & got his start on the SNES.
3. He's well known & I'm presuming popular.

=O Screw Meowth, Jack is now #9 on top 10 character wishlist! I can't believe I didn't think of him before myself! I'll think of a moveset myself later, although I think it should be based around his pitchfork and not his fists.

Have Jack wield a pitchfork and have a dog follow him around so he could do some attacks. I once opposed this idea but I now think it could be interesting.

Just think of an interesting moveset using that plus some stuff from Harvest Moon and you got a winner.

In the ? Box that Mario must hit.
I thought of him myself long before SSBB was announced, but now that it's actually possible, I'm honestly surprised I didn't think about him. I'd also like to see Cliff with his hawk, and maybe a hunting crossbow.

*Adds Jack to Wishlist*

Hardly popular enough. He's loseing in the GameFAQs poll, but then again, it wasn't fair for HM's first opponent to be that ****ed Kingdom Hearts.

Kingdom Hearts fanboys are almost like the FF7 fanboys. The major difference is that Kingdom Hearts isn't super overrated.

It would be no surprise if Final Fantasy wins the Best Series poll even though we all know it should go to Super Mario Bros.

Mario Bros or Zelda. Mario Bros deserves it slightly more though due to Mario being as recognizable as Mickey Mouse...or was that Sonic?
I forgot about Zelda. That game series should win; it didn't even have one sucky game (the CD-I Zelda games do not count and they weren't even on Nintendo).

I'm all for Jack. Any guy who can legitimately use a hoe in the game gets a vote from me.

I also believe that Jack's super would involve one of the following.

1. COW STAMPEDE

or

2. Attack of the ladies!!

EDIT: It would also be cool to see Jack's scythe tornado with Link's spin attack.

Oh come on! This is 10 times better than half the crap that most people are flooding the forum with. It's very possible for Jack to be in the next game for all of the following reasons:

1. Almost all of his games have been on a Nintendo system.
2. They're making a new HM game for the DS (and possibly the Wii.)
3. He comes with tools that could serve a variety of purposes.
4. He's fairly well known
5. It'd be really easy to give him a stage with lots of environmental factors.
6. He's not another swordsman or Mario character.

EDIT: On another note, I'm stoked that Castlevania beat Halo in the Gamefaqs poll.

I'll admit, it's better than all this Skies of Arcadia bullcrap that's going around, but still, please. If Nintendo wants to put him in there, Nintendo would put in place their final ruling as mainly a kiddie-company.

You're just not a pleasant person, you know that? And here's a little something for you, Nintendo IS a kiddie system. Well, more than Sony and Microsoft anyway.

I agree with everything Destruction_King has said. Especially the cow stampede. That would rock out loud.

I don't think Karen makes for a very good weapon.

Think outside the box and you will see how interesting Jack really is.

Trust me, it's better than some lame suggestions like Baby Lugia and Pichu Bros.

Nintendo is NOT KIDDY ****IT!

You want to talk about lame? Talk about Game & Watch. Just as lame, almost just as possible.

And yes there is a Harvest Moon in the makeing for Wii.

I'm just glad Halo was beaten. I can't stand all the 11 year old fanboys of Halo. Makes me sick.

Harvest Moon is the only 'kiddy' game I know where you can get stone-cold drunk.

OoO That...that was beautiful...

Oh yeah, and say whatever you want, but Nintendo is aimed more towards younger gamers than Sony and Microsoft. End of story. They've said it themselves. Sure, they have a fewmore mature games, but MOSTLY they create games designed for younger audiences.

They make games designed for everyone.

Besides, 'maturity' is subjective. Harvest Moon is a very mature representation of Redneck society.

iv never heard of jack before, and nintendo is more kiddie than sony and microsoft, not that thats a bad thing, the younger kids start with nintendo cause there parents force them, then they get pulled in and play nintendo when they arent young

BMX XXX was only censored on the PS2 release... That says something about Nintendo I suppose.

OK, so Harvest Moon isn't a kiddie game. But seriously, the games are just milking cows and working on a farm, for the most part. OK, so everyone pretty much thinks I'm a cynical person because of that, sorry, I'm just voicing my opinion. And these games just don't really appeal to me.

Well think of it this way, a Plumber, 3 Bounty Hunters, a race car driver, a psychopathic freak of nature, a handheld star, two ice climbers, a monkey, a doctor, and now, a farmer.

I was going to make this a thread today, but seeing as there is one here, I'll just add my idea here. I only have SOME ideas so this is not a complete move set.

Idle standing Harvest Moon Guy would have no weapons out.

Foreward B: A swipe with his rake that causes 9-12% damage and a horizontal knockback. If used in the air, it pushes HMG foreward in the air ala JP's over+B.

Foreward Smash: Tilling. HMG smashes his Till into the ground in front of him. The longer the attack is held, the farther it will reach(Dirt flies up in a path in front of HMG.)

Third Jump: Sickle. HMB Swings his sickle in an arc upwards, does about 5-9% damage and has great knockback. Jack's body is lifted very slightly when this occurs, and the sickle can grab onto any wall of the stage to enable him to hoist himself up.

It'd be important for Jack to be a good jumper.

It's come to my attention there's actual fighting in HM DS. Monsters & wild animals inhabit the mines & you gotta fend them off with your farming equipment (as well as a sword that can be found). Now he really shouldn't have the sword in SSBB it detracts from his character but this reinforces why Jack fits, he CAN fight!
