Character Complaining

I have been reading so many speculations and predictions on who will be in Super Smash Brothers Brawl; and I am furious on how people complain on who "does or doesn't deserve to be in Brawl"! I post this topic to complain about it.

First off, I am upset that people say that certain characters are the best ones to be in Brawl. They think that characters that are not popular should not be in Brawl for the sole reason that "They suck!"

First, let me tell you that even if you were working for Nintendo or Sora, I am sure that you would not get your favroite character in the game because you are not privilged to get Sakurai to get that person in because you were not involved in making the characters! Also, you all seem that characters like Ice Climbers, Pokemon Trainer and Pikmin and Olmilar are bad characters just because of their unique movesets! Come on! Do you think you are wasting time and energy by using your hands to press a button so you can pluck Pikmin from the ground, switch Pokemon without waisting their stamina or lose Nana to be left with Popo would make them bad just because you do not know how to correctly use them and you don't even want to try? You all fail to see that this game is different from KO fighting games (Street Fighter). You all perfer to charge at and beat other characters up in hopes of winning quickly Without gaining too much damage to be sent flying off. I see that you game players did not attend school for long to learn what the importance of this topic means. Just becasue a character is very popular, that does not increases their chances of getting in (despite the fact that Sakurai allowed you to give suggestions about characters) and Nintendo cannot make the right movements for the character you see popular so they can be in the roster. Popularity alone doesn't increases the character's chances. So if you want to complain about characters you want in the game for being cool, famous, or have neat movesets; begging or whining in hopes of getting a chasracter in will not mean that Nintendo will listen to you all and put them in. Nintendo decides the characters regardless of what they want. Nintendo and Sakurai decide which characters are best to be in; not how much popularity they possess. So just because you are Smash Brothers fans, it does not mean that you can decide who Sakurai should add in as playable. If you were Sakurai, could could add whoever you want. However, being a fan does not grant you the power to decide who can be in.

Before I go on, does anyone have questions?

So what you're saying is that if 90% of smash fans say they want a certain character on a poll that doesn't increase their chances at all? That makes total sense [/sarcasm]

If you haven't noticed Smash bros is fighting with nintendo ALL-STARS, and last time I checked all-stars are popular.

First, I may have said this wrong. There are a lot of characters with many different potentials to be in the game. However, since this is a crossover where there are many characters representing different Nintenod games, the chances of seeing a Smash Bros. original character not from any Nintendo game other than the Smash Brothers games are rare; if not, impossible.

Since these are characters we already know that are fighting, the situation is different from most other games because popular characters are both possible and likely to be in depending on how popular they are. I meant that Popularity is very important for this.

What I meant is that you all overuse popularity to think that any character that can get in may not be choses to be in. Unpopular characters may have a possible but low chance of being in. And as I see it, other characters that are very popular are more desired than even some characters with slightly lower popularity. Even if you want a favroite character to get in, you still should have some way to prepare or expect to see characters you would not expect (like Pikmin and Olimar) to see because even though you don't like them that much, they may come in and have more creative movesets you did not think they would have or you never saw used by the character in the games they were in, other than your guesses or ideas for moves (like Sonic using a spring as a third jump other than having a third jump similar to Samus' screw attack; or Wario being introduced in his plumber's outfit and a Wario Land based moveset instead of coming as he was in WarioWare and have a W symbol instead of Mario's Mushroom symbol).

Even though there are unwanted characters for Brawl, they still may be added whether you like it or not. After all, these are characters coming from many different games by Nintendo, Konami and Sega, and Sakurai has the right to add an unpopular character into the game. We are not talking about original fighting game characters. These are characters who already appeared as heroes/good guys, supporting characters and even villians from other games before they were in the Smash Brothers series. What you did not want to see, you must accept.

I think you have missed something, Earthbender; if you did not read what I said, you did not know that I did not mention any new characters other than the ones already revealed on Smash Bros Dojo! I was talking about how people are excited about the game enough to say things like (oh, Minda would be great! There is no reason that Sakurai would not add her because she is so friggin' cool! This is not a game if Minda (from Zelda: Twilight Princess) is not in!) without arguing why the character is good enough by how their fighting style or inclusion and how they would function as a fighter and how they would be a great addition.

I am not arguing about any characters. I am saying how ridiculos it is to whine about someone decreasing others chances by taking their spot or complain when it is revealed that they are not going to be playable. I find it stupid to express by bragging and boasting on why characters are 'perfect' for Brawl over and over again without saying one thin about why they would make great additions. just because this is a topic about characters, it does not mean it has to be an arguement about the inclusion of any characters. If I mention characters not revealed yet (Like K. Rool from Donkey Kong and Black Shadow from F-Zero) in this topic, I would not be talking about why whining against them is stupid; because I would argue about why characters should be added to the new Smash Bros. game, not why people pointlessly argue without backing up their point of view without debating with others on why they would want the character.

It's possible Pokemon Trainer and Olimar will become like DK and Yoshi, characters who are barely played by anyone once. But rather than unpopularity, no one will want to use them due to their high learning curve.

Popularity is a factor, but it is not the only factor. That poll, in addition, is not a reliable gauge of popularity anyway. Did you vote on it? I certainly didn't. If I'm not mistaken, it was only open to Japanese fans. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. But that 90% figure reeks of being pulled from someone's *** regardless.

There exist other factors which can push a character into playable status without the benefit of being 'popular.' See Game & Watch, Ice Climbers, any and all Japan-only characters, etc. Clearly the definition of 'Nintendo All-Star' is a bit more complex than simple popularity. Ultimately it's Sakurai's call which characters make it in and which ones don't. I prefer it that way...I shudder to think what kind of roster would result from a simple show of hands by us peons.

This guy's right in some ways.

In the end Sakurai decides who gets in or not. The polls are mere guidelines for him. Popularity is NOT the only issue. Moveset and Subspace Plot may also play a factor.. but also depends on how important a certain character was on his / her game. That being said, I have faith I'll see more MAIN characters before random sidekicks and villains included.

He's got a good point. Personally, I can't stand it when I see people posting things "Character X is too popular to not return/make it as a newcomer". I have no doubt that many popular and heavily requested characters will make it into Brawl, but those people who think every last popular character will make it are probably in for a disappointing surprise when the final roster is revealed.
