Character artwork and amiibo stability

Whenever I look upon some of my favourite characters like Fox, Link and Samus I can never agree on their amiibo design. I can always see those ugly little blue or yellow pieces that holds them up snapping off with the slightest bit of force. It makes me wonder why Sakurai or the artists at Nintendo decided to make so many of the character amiibo/atwork portray them flying or doing something in the air. Do Samus and Donkey Kong really have to be standing on their tippy-toes or Link jumping in the air? I understand some characters like Fox, Falco and Wii Fit Trainer are portraying a move they use in the game, but it just makes me wish Nintendo was more conscious on the amiibo stability.

Well for twelve dollars you can't expect super quality craftsmanship. It's entirely possible we'll have some higher quality ones down the line that will be more expensive, but I'm sure someone will come up with some sort of solution to remove the plastic supports and/or replace them with something more aesthetically pleasing. It's entirely possible they could be painted over or modified to serve as a prop in the Amiibo, which would make them ten times better to look at, haha

Seeing as the amiibo figurines are based on the Smash Wii U artworks, some of them have to have support pieces to keep them stable.

I believe that Sakurai said that amiibos were added late during development so they probably didn't know about that when they did the character artwork. Read on an article.

He did say this. I think amiibo probably wasn't being planned until around the second quarter of the year.

As for artwork, I do think it would have been a better idea to create new poses, but I'm totally fine with how the figures turned out.
