In 2008 we saw the Smash community ripped asunder, fractured by a hive-mind of senseless hostility directed towards people, who in return naturally rallied themselves, develop toxicity of their own not unlike their counterparts. A schism that resulted in a plague which crippled Smash's potential, undoubtedly discouraging Nintendo, Esports, and more importantly, potential players, from regarding it as anything of value.

But Smash has value. It is unique, at its core is a special charm designed to bring people together. The people who saw, and continue to see its value, pressed onwards with a hope that it will do just that. Its salvation would not come from within, but without. The "community" was destitute, so a new one would form upon the greatness that once was. From The Smash Brothers Documentary, many saw the game for what it is. A chance to be somebody, connect with others, and express themselves through mastery of self.

So we're here. The story after EVO, Project M 3.0, Netplay, weekly tournies with viewership into the thousands. Hundreds of thousands brought together once more, in greater force than ever precedented, and growing. The rest is unwritten. I'm talking to the old guard, those whose tweets have influence upon this congregation. Can you change history? Or will this really be Brawl 2.0?

Long live Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
