My uncle (founder of an online storage site) told me that a USB flash drive would last longer than a DVD.
I think he was talking about how some CDs degrade. I'm hearing that my CDs will only last another 30 years, while some other sites are saying 300.
Is the stuff on my computer and flash drive called "flash memory" while the CD/DVD/Blu-ray is just a bunch lines in a plastic disc?
Should we start backing up our discs now? I think I may want to find an online storage solution. If I put all my files online then they're safe as long as the site stays in business, correct? Can anything online be shared an infinite number of times?
Personally I really don't see the point of spending money to back up my data when there's Mediafire, no matter how convenient my uncle makes his "automatic uploader thingy" sound.
