Casual Smasher looking to Smash (and improve)

Hey all! New to these forums, and reintroducing myself to playing Smash Bros again!

I played Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl throughout my childhood and teen years then took a long break since I never owned a Wii U. When I saw a new Smash Bros game was coming out on the Switch, I decided to take the plunge and buy one just for Ultimate.
When I got ingame, I came to the sudden realization that I have completely forgotten how to play SmashBros. I was really hoping I'd be able to take my controller and pick up right where I left off all those years ago. But since that wasn't the case, I'm now on a journey of relearning everything.

All the friends that I played with back in the day no longer play Smash, and since I just bought a Switch, I don't have any online friends yet.
I came here in hopes of finding some useful general info and maybe some chill players who are trying to learn the game, improve, and have fun as well. Maybe chat on Discord sometime while we play.

Hey freefer your story sounds exactly like mine.
I never owned a wii u after playing all smashes until that version came out and got a switch specifically for ultimate. I wouldn't mine practicing and playing online as I lost my skills as well. What's your switch friend code?
