Capture Card problem

Well, it's not so much a problem, as it may happen to everyone. but, I recently got a comuter with a Capture Card installed. So, to record from games, I just plug the yellow, red and white leads from the console, into another lead which plugs into the computer. I can record games fine, but when it comes to Melee, it goes slower than usual. Is it because it's such a fast paced game? And does anyone else get this problem?

When you plug your Gamecube into your TV like usual, your TV displays the picture as soon as it gets it. There is no (appreciable) delay between the Gamecube sending pictures and the TV displaying them.

However, when you plug you Gamecube directly into your computer, the computer does a bunch of stuff before showing it on the screen. Your computer is, after all, doing a lot of things on the side in addition to displaying your Smash footage. That means there will be a delay in what you push, to when it shows on your screen. That's why it feels "slow". Note that it's not actually running slower, the video being shown is just delayed.

What you should do: if you want to record smash footage. Is play your games on your TV like always, but record them via a VCR. Then when you're done, replay the footage back from your VCR into your Computer via your capture card. There are some good references with more detail in the videos room here on the smashboards.

Good luck.

Thank you so much.

I know some people use the VCR and I was going to consider trying that next as it won't run very well through the computer screen. Not sure how I record a channel on AV, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Thanks again!
