Hoping anyone has any recommendations. For the longer replays.

My friend recommended me this a long time ago, and I've been meaning to get it ever since, but I just keep it bookmarked for the time being.

Personally, I use the Elgato HD. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done nicely. It's a bit pricey, and they tend to keep jackin' up the price. But it gets you fairly good quality overall. Here's a video I made awhile back, demonstrating it's video quality:

I also recomend the el gato HD. The HD 60 is the newer model but the old one works really well and is roughly 40$ cheaper.

I uploaded a 38m video to YouTube and it was really great quality, also you can stream with it in great HD too.

I called Best Buy and they reduced the price from 140 price matched to 107. I think it was because I called on Christmas Day.

I am really happy with the ease and quality of it.

Well, since you all seem fairly confident with el gato, I'll give that one a go.

I too recommend the El Gato HD. I have one and it gets the job done. Only problem is the framerate is locked at 30FPS while recording at 1080p, but I record at 720p for the 60FPS and it still looks fine. The HD60 solves this, but is more expensive and only has HDMI in

The software is a bit janky in my experience. Prone to crashing and the one long video I tried to edit in it became de-synced with no way to fix it that I could tell. It's fine if you're only doing recording, streaming, or editing single clips, but if you want to do something more complex (like a montage video) I would highly suggest using a real video editing program.

Kinda surprised I haven't heard of El gato considering how unanimous the opinions are. Also thanks for the info at the end there.

I heard of El Gato as a recommendation from the guys over on Giant Bomb as a good, dead simple capture card. I also think they use it when they don't have access to their proper capture setups.
