Cape glitch?

Apologies and yadda yadda if this is already known, but the strangest thing happened the other day in a match vs. Doc.

a friend of mine was doc and I was fox, on FD and as I firefoxed back to the right ledge (trying to sweetspot), Doc caped me, and as he did so, I was holding left on the CS, and instead of falling to my doom, Fox did a roll animation kind of like a tech, and he rolled incredibly fast (as in, I couldn't even see it, im just assuming he rolled) (like samus' SWD) all the way to the opposite side of FD, and needless to say I was alive.

any thoughts?

Pretty simple, he caped you not during the firefox but just after. this enabled you to tech rather than just fall to your death. At high percentages when you tech hard hits you tend to roll and take the damage power as well (If you have ever seen the double stick techs with jiggly by Magus you would know what I mean).

i know this sh*t happens if he capes fox/falco/sheik during their getup attack animations. Was it similar?

Hmm, i think it probably was due to getting caped JUST after the firefox ended, I must have teched and got caped while teching, it happened so fast I can't really remember the details of what I was doing exactly when it happened.

@scotu, I don't think i've seen that. I'll have to check it out.

that's bang on scotu. that's definitely what happened. I wonder why though, it looked as if he caped my firefox. I must have grabbed the ledge and mashed the A button or something just as he caped...
