Can't tech?

I play 3.6 on my Wii and beforehand having played 3.6b and 3.5. For whatever reason, I can't tech any hits on the full version of 3.6. Should I attempt to redownload 3.6 to see if that fixes it? I'm not sure what would cause that. I can tech just fine in the beta and 3.5
